Hey there! This is a tread for anyone trying to get into the May nursing program in Broward College. Have you guys completed everything we need?
I still have to take my HESI and I am half way done with the Health Core class. I am so nervous. I am still not completely sure on how BC does the admission criteria, but I have high hopes.
Leave anything below. Lets help each other out :)
Yeah summer715 that is exactly how I feel. This is not fair to those of us that have turned in our application weeks ago and we are now at almost the end of March still waiting on a response. To me it is very unprofessional and is just making Broward college's nursing department look bad. The reason I think they started the open-ended process in the first place is because like I said the last couple of years they have not been getting nearly the amount of applicants they have gotten in years past. Now I don't know if it is because of the failing rate of the program, the intensity of the program, or the expectations that they are setting for us but there is a reason why Broward college's nursing program went from getting 800 applicants a semester to not enough to even make a decision by the end of March when the program starts at the beginning of May. I feel a first round should have at least been sent out at this time to let those of us who applied early know but they might not have enough people to fill the 3 campuses and might only do it at 2 of the campuses now and thats why they are waiting. Who knows though at this moment what their reason is for doing this. I just would greatly appreciate an answer soon because I do want to mentally prepare myself for this next chapter in my life.
The application period wasnt extended because people are still turning them in. .. the lpn wasnt due till the 15. So it really isn't delayed...maybe they waited for that. The nursing application date for all others is open ended. if you can get your papers in time they let you turn them in. If not it just goes to the next round. If they fill all the spots early then it goes to the next semester as well. I think summer is in less demand.
I know they are on track with most other schools. fau was due between oct and dec 31 but they just sent acceptance Friday. Same start date. so don't worry too much.

I think you and I are the only two calm ones on this entire thread lol.

Hi, I'm new to this thread. I stopped by health science admissions (or what's left of it) on Monday, and was told that they hope to have the emails out by this Friday. I was also told that our myBC accounts (the limited application status) would change to preadmission before we actually receive our emails. Hope that helps!
What campus do you all want to go to? I'm trying to take the program with a few friends- for studying purposes and support. We all are hoping for central!

Hey everyone ! I've been following this thread for months now when it barely had any posts and it's great to see other people are as eager for some answers. Finally getting down the end of the wait. The suspense is a killer ! Originally was hoping for jan2014 but grades didn't post in time for the application process and have been stalling taking classes for BSN in the mean time. This is all overwhelming but I'm sure once were in and find out what works for each of us and be able to get through it just fine. Through out this process what I learned the most is don't believe everything you hear. A lot of people are very discouraging. It's suppose to be hard! You're dealing with peoples lives! Anyway! Hope we all hear from them soon and good luck everyone. We may be sitting next to each other at orientation! Lol
I understand that they want to wait to let us know until they have more applicants, I just hope we will have enough time to get all the proper paperwork and stuff done before classes start!
You definitely have time to get stuff done. When my sister was starting bc two years ago she would tell me the same stories were debating about here. Guess it's broward college tradition to make everyone nervous lol

I just happened to look at the pre reqs again and it says micro and lab (graduation) does that mean we would need to take this class before we finish the program? I have already taken it, I am just curious because I dont remember seeing that before.
I took my prerequisites years ago. But mines says gpa, college level math, LPN license and hesi score. I'm doing LPN to rn. You?

Yes, it is just required for graduation. It is no longer a required pre-req. Fortunately, I've already taken it, but for those that have not, they would have to take it during one of the open summer terms before graduation making the nursing program that much tougher (depending on professor).

What your saying is probably true! I was thinking the same thing. I don't think having rolling admission was a smart thing. They should have stuck with having a deadline. It would have forced applicants to submit their applications earlier. May applicants usually find out by mid February! I'm sure there are ppl who are still trying to turn it in & who will try to wait until the end of the semester.
I wonder what else is causing the decline in applicants.. maybe the rigor of the program and the bad name among students (not hospitals). idk.. but I don't wanna wait any longerrrr
