Broward College Nursing May 2014

Published

Hey there! This is a tread for anyone trying to get into the May nursing program in Broward College. Have you guys completed everything we need?

I still have to take my HESI and I am half way done with the Health Core class. I am so nervous. I am still not completely sure on how BC does the admission criteria, but I have high hopes.

Leave anything below. Lets help each other out :)

I am on it early this week ladies I just got a confirmation from admissions office that they are working on getting all acceptances out this week!!! Good luck everyone!

I think we are all on it early this morning biting fingers, pulling hair, hyperventilating!?...I have checked my status only 10 times in the past 10 minutes. Until determinations are made this is going to be hellish! I will let you all know the business when I get it! Good luck!

Lol I hear you. And goodluck to you too.

Ummm registration opens tomorrow right? How is this supposed to work?

I don't understand why Broward is waiting so late.

Is anyone having a problem checking their student email? ? I've been trying for a few days now on multiple devices, and once I put my login information in nothing comes up. At all. Just a blank page. It was working for me fine last week, so it's not a username or password issue. Just wondering if it's just me or if anyone else is experiencing any issues. Better work by the time acceptance letters go out!

I applied back in December just missed the January cut off date. Definitely wouldn't have been ready.

I've done all the CEUs at CEUfast.com just need to do the CPR

What do we need to have done before we get started in the program

Is this all we need to do:

Background Check

Finger Print

Full Physical

Flu Shots and other Shots Updated or documented

All my documents are at home and haven't really looked at them for awhile just wanted to see what everyone else has done

I have a bunch of books:

Perry/Potter Fundamentals

Dosing & Calculations

Perry/Potter Clinical

and a couple other books some Nclex stuff too

just cracked open the fundamentals and skimmed some chapters that were said to be on Exam 1 on one of the campuses. I read chap: 24-29 and i think it was 38 and 39. No notes just reviewed it briefly surprised how much of the stuff I've seen before. (Now not as scary but not even close to memorized)

not really worried about getting accepted just now want to get prepared because it doesn't seem like we have much time. I may even defer or reapply for August (need to find a part-time job as well that can fit the schedule as well)

Are you sure those are the correct chapters for nursing process I? I think I've read several posts saying on the first day chapters 1-6 need to be read. & I THINK I've seen chapters similar to the ones you mentioned for the beginning of NP2. but IDK! I get all my info from this website lol. & I'm going off of my memory.

I'm not too worried either, my gpa and scores are good, but I'm scared to jynx myself. I might just go ahead and buy the book as well. where did you buy it from and for how much? (the Fundamentals of Nursing text)

That's pretty much everything we need, but not until you get accepted. Besides, in order to do the physical, background check, drug test, etc, you need the forms from the school. Why would you defer till august? I know it seems like a lot, but you can get everything done pretty much in one day. I've done it before, when I went into the lpn program. Except the cpr, which would take another day of its own if it's your first time getting cpr certified.

When did u buy the books? What edition is the fundamentals one you have

Hi,

I'm new here but I've been reading this thread for the last few days.. Just wanted to wish you ladies good luck in getting accepted.

I'd also like to get into May's program, but I'm a little behind on my application process. I didn't think I'd finish prerequisites in time to apply, then found out deadline is open ended and not March 15 so kinda going a little crazy at the moment. I was told by someone at BC, I still have time to apply for May, but can't submit my application until this term ends for me and when grades are posted. I'm taking HESI this week or next week.

I think that each campus is different but I've seen from a couple of posts from Jan. 2014 term and other terms that those chapters were on the first exam - I copied and pasted these from some forums a week ago

Just go over physical assessment and vitals at least. They will demonstrate it on your first two lab days though. They are very specific. I have the paper but idk how to post pics on here so you guys at least have an idea how they want it done. :

This exams from Perry Potter Fundamentals of nursing 8th edition

Exam 1: Chapters 24,26,27,28,29,38,39

Exam 2: Chapters 15-20, 30

Exam 3: Chapters 33,34,36,42,49

Exam 4: Chapters 1-6

There's some topic that was included that was not part perry potter book like specimen collection and diagnostic procedures which is part of exam 3. She gave us the powerpoint for that.

also found this one

For process 1 this semester, we have to read 7 chapters for our first exam. chapter 24,26,27,28,29,38,39.

Don't remember where these came from thats why I haven't put a full effort into studying them just yet. Just reviewed them. But I think these are for process 1 I'm just guessing but only once I see things a few times I try to prepare because it will come up sometime

And I'm using right now Potter/Perry 7th edition got off Amazon for probably less than 10 bucks and all my other books are old editions for less than 10 dollars from Amazon.

Many posts say most of the older editions are sufficient for the classes (but again who knows if its all true)

My roommate actually graduated from the nursing program at central campus she used older editions but I bought my own books because they were so cheap on Amazon and she let some people borrow hers as well.

Sorry guys but seems we gonna have to wait a little longer, just went to central nursing dept and the lady told me early next week b4 they start sending emails.

This is insane all this wait.

@shelly2014.... noooooooooo!
