Broward College Nursing May 2014

U.S.A. Florida

Hey there! This is a tread for anyone trying to get into the May nursing program in Broward College. Have you guys completed everything we need?

I still have to take my HESI and I am half way done with the Health Core class. I am so nervous. I am still not completely sure on how BC does the admission criteria, but I have high hopes.

Leave anything below. Lets help each other out :)

Hey! So it's looks like this will be the thread for May 2014. I was writing in another one.. but that one is looking a little dead! lol. I just took the HESI this past Saturday, I thought it was pretty easy. I wouldn't stress over it.

-VERY basic math- book is very good review

-Basic grammar- book is very good review

-Vocab wasn't hard, but it was a little more difficult than the review. (although the review was great preparation)

-Reading Comprehension was like the FCAT lol. Not on some advanced level. -book review is good.

-A&P it may be difficult if you don't have a good background in it. Most of the answers I knew came from remembering what I learned in A&P. The review book didn't get as in depth, but it is difficult because A&P is such a broad subject.

I used Amazon.com: Admission Assessment Exam Review eBook: HESI: Kindle Store

I'm not sure what my GPA is, but if they're just using A&P 1/2 + the labs, and English, then I should have about a 3.7 and I got a 92% HESI. All I need now is for my transcripts to arrive in the mail!!!!:devil: It's been 2 weeks now ugh! Anyways good luck to everybody!

Oh and has anyone else heard anything about the program. I hear negative stories and positive stories.. I don't know what to think. I guess at the end of the day it is what you make it.

where are all the people applying for May!!! :( lol.

Well I turned in my application yesterday & I just paid the $20 fee. My status currently says: 'Den- Transcript Not Evaluated'. So I guess that mean progress lol!!

I asked the adviser when the first round of applicants will be accepted & she said around Mid-March. So I guess we have another month until we know anything.

I turn in my application next Thursday since I'm out of town. I'm so nervous! At least we will find out pretty soon if we get in

Hi guys, I'm like pre-pre nursing student haven't even taken even one class as of yet, but happy to go to Broward to start pre reqs in May. I wil be where u guys are in a year or so good luck to you all! Hope u all get in

Hey everyone I turned my application in yesterday and was awarded 10 total points and I got an overall of a 92% on the hesi. I am not even going to lie I had to take the A&P portion of the hesi twice because the first time I was very thrown off by the questions and did not get the score that I was aiming for. The second time I took the hesi through I scored a 98% on that section. My suggestion to everyone that is applying for May is to read ahead. A couple of my friends are in the program now and said the amount of reading they have to do is crazy and very time consuming. I am overwhelmed and excited at the same time and I cannot wait to find out if we all get in. Good luck to everyone applying….We got this!!!!

Hello. I just took the HESI and turned in my application today. Unlike most of you guys, I didn't do that well on the test (a&p section only) but good enough to be able to apply. I have a somewhat average GPA so I only got a 9. Hopefully I can get still get in, with God's will. I'm just really hoping for the best but if I don't, I can always retake the test and apply for fall. Best of luck to everybody and please let us know once your application status changes.

My application status changes to 'Current Status: Application in Review' :D:)

I was awarded 13 points.

@Aralum I wouldn't worry too much about it.. Although every semester is different, I've read that people have gotten in with 7s... so you should probably be fine!

Yeah I wouldn't worry about it either. Two of my friends got into January's program with a 3.0 GPA and an overall score of a 83% on the hesi so I think that we should all be fine. Summer715 when did yours change to "application in review" and how long ago did you apply? I hope we find out soon but when I summited my application the other day the nursing department said that we would not know until mid-march if we got in or not. I think that mid-march is too long to wait lol, and I want to know sooner so I can start preparing myself and reading ahead. What campus does everyone want to go to?

when is the deadline to apply?

Thank you guys!! Mine already says application in review because I guess I graduated from BC so they already had my grades. When I went to the admissions, they told me they don't review it until mid march but then when I went to the nursing department, they said if admissions have enough applications, that around mid-feb, they might review and select already since that was how they used to do it. I would like to go to central or south but whichever campus I get is fine. My friend goes to south and she said that her class is down from 40 to only 18 students (she started fall 2013) because the program is really tough.

No deadline date. Apparently, it's when all seats are filled. But it you're applying for the summer program, do it before mid march

Hi Guys!! So glad I found this thread. I have a 3.06 overall GPA and I have a 80 something average on my HESI. I did my test about two years ago and I had to retake the vocab and math because during the first test I took the silly questions for granted and ended up bombing so I had to retake. It took me awhile to apply to the program, I received a useless bachelors and now feel brave enough to apply. I have not heard anything back yet about my application and I turned my application in Feb. 7 and when I click on Limited Access App Status it is still saying to application on file and still no email. I am starting to get worried as some on here have had points evaluated already :nailbiting::( I don't want to nag them to the point they hunt down my file and burn it so I am just going to stay patient =(
