Broward College Nursing January 2012

Published

Hey everyone!

This is a thread for anyone applying for the January 2012 class at Broward college for the generic nursing track. July 16th was the date to start applying and I believe it closes sometime in October. How many points does everyone have? I had to defer my seat so I will be starting in January for sure at north campus! :D if I can be of any help with questions pertaining to getting in or the HESI I will be glad to help! Good luck everyone!!

Libertosj, 12 points is great! as long as you get 75% and over in each sections of the HESI. Last year people with 5 points got in. I have 13, so we're in the same boat. Now the waits beings. Last year some people found out September 16 which was the day after and some found out on October. We will make it! which campus did you apply to?

i only have 3.1 gpa and 88% hesi. i hope and pray that will be ok. im keeping the faith.

This was sooo sweet! You have no idea how you have brightened up my day! I do believe in talking to him...I am glad to hear about your sis in law getting accepted...its good news-makes this program seem more humane and doable. Just today I bumped into a medical assistant at school; and she was talking to me about the nursing program, and being in our same path (micro in fall etc)...got 80's on HESI..and waiting to see if she will get in...I see us all with the same look in our eye...that dream, that goal...that drive...the worries-I truly hope it happens for us all;)

I know how you feel about the HESI, I took it twice failed the math & reading....felt so dumb...but you know 4 hrs, to do all of this is a lot. I just knew I had to do it again right away. It isn't that hard...but its one of those annoying things that can get to you. I don't believe HESI scores are important..you're not even awarded points for taking it. SO just DO IT..and MOVE ON! XOXO Prayers for you also my friend.:redpinkhe

thanks my dear. i finally pass the vocab. today. now i have an overall score of 88% and a 3.1 gpa score.

Just curious as to what to turn in with my application this upcoming week. I know the actual application but do we attach a print out of our hesi scores (like it said in the hesi faq)? Do we need to attach a degree audit? :confused:

anyone applying for the jan2012 program??? also i took all parts of the hesi but i had to retake vocab and while i was doing that i retook the grammar section and raised it from a 84 to a 88. the think is because i still didnt pass the vocab section, she didnt print me a score sheet, well today i retook it and passed. my question is can i just print it from my email and hand it in or i need to get a copy from central campus where i took the test, all the others has the broward lrc stamp on them except for the one i print from my email and i dont know if they will accept it.

You can print out the one from your email. and yes you have to bring in a copy attached of your hesi scores, your nursing application, and if you took the health core class at sherdian like i did i had to bring that as well.

Hi, could you please tell me how you calculate your points for the application?

An "A" is worth 4 points...a "B" is worth 3 points...a "C" is worth 2 points

Prereq Credits/ Grade earned/ Points earned for the class

AP1 Lecture = 3 credits /A = 4 points /4 times 3 = 12pts

AP2 Lecture = 3 credits /B = 3 points /3 times 3 = 9pts

Enc1101 = 3 credits /B = 3 points /3 times 3 = 9pts

Chm1032 = 3 credits /A = 4 points /4 times 3 = 12pts

AP1 Lab = 1 credit /C = 2 points /2 times 1 = 2pts

AP2 Lab = 1 credit /A = 4 points /4 times 1 = 4pts

EXAMPLE

- Add up the Prereq Credits: 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 1 + 1 = 14 pts

- Add up the Points Earned for the Class: 12 + 9 + 9 + 12 + 2 + 4 = 48 pts

- Divide the 48pts by 14pts = 3.42 GPA

hope you are able to understand this

Thanks this explains how they calculate the gpa but I read some people saying they have 12, or 13 points on their application. So what are they referring to exactly?

That is the points you receive for your GPA

4.0 GPA is 16pts, 3.9 is 15pts, 3.8 is 14pts, 3.7 is 13pts, 3.6 is 12pts, 3.5 is 11pts, 3.4 is 10pts, 3.3 is 9pts...etc.

Keep in mind that your GPA is not rounded up. For instance, a 3.78 GPA is NOT a 3.8...It is a 3.7...PLUS...you get an extra 1 point if you are a broward resident and 5 points if you did HOSA in high school
