Broward College Nursing January 2012

Published

Hey everyone!

This is a thread for anyone applying for the January 2012 class at Broward college for the generic nursing track. July 16th was the date to start applying and I believe it closes sometime in October. How many points does everyone have? I had to defer my seat so I will be starting in January for sure at north campus! :D if I can be of any help with questions pertaining to getting in or the HESI I will be glad to help! Good luck everyone!!

My gpa 2.7 and i dont remember my hesi scores exactly because I took it a while ago. My lowest score was 76 in a&p and highest was 90 in math. I got somewhere in the 80's for other section. I know not that great but we will see how it goes. :)

My science GPA is not that high, and my HESI scores were average (80's)...I think I will let GOD lead though.

I too am nervous and all those things...it was such a big deal finishing the prereqs with 4 kids and then the HESI. Now I wait, while taking micro this fall (which isn't going so hot)...I can only pray that I get accepted. All I hear is how high all my peers' grades are and how uncertain they are...what do I do..not have hope cause my grades are not as high? In this life anything is possible and the first don't always finish and the last arn't always slow...its in God's hands. I could settle and be a physical therapist assistant, I could be happy doing that...but I'd always ache about wanting to be a nurse. I'm already 28, I don't want to go to nursing school at 38...in fact I so want to be done with school already! I'm not a scientist...I'm terrible at math...I just love and care about people a lot and want to do something great in this life. Best to all..

Hey Carry,

I am in the same boat as you basically! I did great on all sections of the HESI except for the AP.. I got a 76..

:( Did you schedule your retake yet? Everyone keeps telling me not to worry about it, as long as it is over 75, that it is considered passing. However, it would really suck to not get in, just because of that. :( I dont know what to do! Retake it or just submit it!!!!

I just thought of another question.

Do you guys know if it really takes up to 2 weeks for Elsevier to send your results to broward? Unfortunately like I said before I didn't pass the anatomy part so I'm retaking it next week but that doesn't leave 2 weeks cause the deadline is September 15.

Also, What campuses are you guys applying to? Have you heard anything good about specific campuses?

My fiance goes to Nova so I'm considering applying to central cause we might move to that area. Anyone heard anything about central campus?

I'm soooo nervous!! :uhoh21:

Congrats to those who have everything submitted & accounted for.

I'm freaking out cause I have a 3.0 pre-req GPA. I hope to do great on anatomy next week so that at least that gives me a boost. I don't have HOSA & i'm not a broward resident. :crying2:

I'm retaking it this upcoming week. I can only tell you each person is different. My gpa is a 3.0 so i'm really depending on my Hesi scores. If you have a high GPA I think you'll be fine.

I'm also seeing it as: nothing negative can come from retaking it cause they take your highest scores. The only thing you lose is money.

I dont know if you take it twice if they look down on you for not improving your score. But from what i've heard thats not the case.

Good luck in what you decide. Keeping my fingers crossed for both of us!

hello, i'm planning on applying to the nursing program at bc. i graduated last year with a ba in business from fau. i've been interested in nursing for years but was so far into business i just wanted to see it through. now i'm starting to take my pre-req's for the nursing program. i'm taking i took enc 1101 at mdc back in 1998 and got a c.

can i retake it broward to get a better grade?

this was sooo sweet! you have no idea how you have brightened up my day! i do believe in talking to him...i am glad to hear about your sis in law getting accepted...its good news-makes this program seem more humane and doable. just today i bumped into a medical assistant at school; and she was talking to me about the nursing program, and being in our same path (micro in fall etc)...got 80's on hesi..and waiting to see if she will get in...i see us all with the same look in our eye...that dream, that goal...that drive...the worries-i truly hope it happens for us all;)

i know how you feel about the hesi, i took it twice failed the math & reading....felt so dumb...but you know 4 hrs, to do all of this is a lot. i just knew i had to do it again right away. it isn't that hard...but its one of those annoying things that can get to you. i don't believe hesi scores are important..you're not even awarded points for taking it. so just do it..and move on! xoxo prayers for you also my friend.:redpinkhe

its only english..i would just move on..people get in the program with c's...its up to you...either way you lose time because you may wait longer to get accepted/or you wait because you retake english..its the same really. whatever you do....go for it...science classes are the most important.

Thanks, Gina. I appreciate it. I'm just nervous about starting over and I want to ensure I do everything I can to get into this program. So I will definitely work hard on my science courses. :)

Hey!

I turned in my application not to long ago and they gave me 12 pts total!!! If its out of a possible 22, 12 seems a little low! Does anyone know of anyone that got accepted with only 12pts? My HESI scores for all 5 are about a 92%! I hope I get in! Also, does anyone know when they let you know if you were accepted? I know the dead line is September 15th!

Thanks and good luck everybody!

Libertosj, 12 points is great! as long as you get 75% and over in each sections of the HESI. Last year people with 5 points got in. I have 13, so we're in the same boat. Now the waits beings. Last year some people found out September 16 which was the day after and some found out on October. We will make it! which campus did you apply to?
