Hello, this is a thread for any current nursing students at Broward college or those who have recently been accepted. I'm a bit confused on Broward's admission criteria. What classes exactly do they use to calculate the gpa?
I got a rolly bag from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B007E6GGGU/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1418858439&sr=8-2&dpPl=1&dpID=41wct06bBnL&ref=plSrch&pi=AC_SY200_QL40
I received it so quickly too. I wanted a rolling bag so I wouldn't hurt my back. It's definitely better to be safe than sorry. I also got my nursing shoes from Uniform Advantage at the mall for $40.00.
I bought almost everything I need for next semester. I got XXS for the uniform, and the matching scrub pants I bought at the uniform store are still too long for me haha. Have to get those hemmed, and buy bandage scissors. Does anyone know if we need to purchase a blood pressure cuff?
Storming through and practicing all the questions in the dosage calculations book - not bad, I wish I started earlier though. Need to start (speed) studying for clinical, pharm, theory by next week also
Blood pressure cuff isn't required but you can purchase one if you'd like to practice at home. This is one of the skills you'll have to master in your return demo and some clinical instructors require you to take manual blood pressures every time in the hospital (even if the hospital has the automatic ones).
Professors are known to switch things around from semester to semester so be weary, but when I had Process I these were the topics on Test 1:
Hygiene
Vital Signs
Health Assessment
Documentation
Nursing Process
Safety

Hey smilecuzimhappy , Did you attend North Campus?
I love my rolly bag. Lots of people use them. It is easy because you can take everything and not break your back. I have the black jansport. I bought mine on Amazon. For my stethoscope i bought a Littmann and pen light from medisave.net they have a discount on Facebook. It's only 5% but it helps. I bought the shoes in the store in pembroke lakes. They have a lot to choose from
What is so special about the Littmann.
Yes, I went to North campus. The Littmann stethoscopes are more expensive than the ones you can buy from the bookstore at school, but they are well worth the money. I have had both, and I can say that especially when you're doing return demo and you have to listen very carefully to find someone's aplical pulse, or bp, the littmann is superior. It's so much louder and crisp sounding than the others. The one I got from the bookstore literally fell apart, lol. The piece you use to listen fell off. Now I hang it in my car's rear view mirror as decoration. Plus.. I know Christmas just passed but they make for nice gifts from family!
