Hello, this is a thread for any current nursing students at Broward college or those who have recently been accepted. I'm a bit confused on Broward's admission criteria. What classes exactly do they use to calculate the gpa?
Question about the math course, is it true your only allowed to miss one question
Yes. It's 10 questions and u can only miss 1. Process 1 math class is like 3 weeks or something then u have an exam which is pretty straight forward what you learned just buy the berger math packet and do it and should be fine. I did it twice to prepare. Process 2 math exam is extremely difficult and a lot harder then the first one u take. Dont underestimate it like I did. I failed it the first time and they give u 1 more chance to retake the week after and I passed but the second test is harder so you want to pass the first time.
Should I take these classes after I get accepted? I spoke to my adviser today and she says I should wait until after I get accepted because these expire and they probably will before I get into the program.

- Prevention of Medical Errors 2 hours
- Domestic Violence 2 hours
- Laws and Rules (for Florida Nurses) 2 hours
- TB/OSHA/Hepatitis 6 hours
- HIV/AIDS Certificate 4 hours
What semester are u applying for? They do expire but not for a year or two
Starting summer term once you're accepted Make sure u read as many chapters as u can before class starts. August was insane I couldn't of imagined starting in summer for process 1. Stay focused and you can do it !
The math is dosage calculations. Proportions, long division. I suggest if you're weak with decimals and long division to brush up on basics before starting so you're not stressed over that. No calculators are allowed either.
Can you share what the math is like? What makes it difficult? I'm not a math person and I hope to god that I don't fail it
Math. How can I explain the anxiety I experience every semester. I'm so glad I only have 2 more math tests left! Now to explain:
You have 10 questions. You can only miss one.
Some teachers allow calculators, but don't assume. Bring one in your bag. In OB we were given the option and including myself there were only 2 of us who had one. So we used it.
Bring a highlighter. Highlight key words. As you get into higher level courses the questions get more detailed, and more details increase failure rates.
Good news: You get 2 tries.
Bad news: Depending on the instructor, the second test can be harder. Strive to pass the first time.
As each class is completed, courses open on D2L. Instructors may have practice questions. Do them, if none are available use Brickman's site.
Practice, practice, practice. You'll use math to calculate, even in clinicals. You can do it! :)
This is an example of the basic basic basic problems you'll learn first . You will get formulas for harder problems when u start your math class.
I compare math questions from my specialties:
Tanya S. was prescribed 350mg of acetaminophen Q4H for a fever of 100 degrees or greater. The bottle states there is 125mg/ml. She has a temperature of 99.9 degrees. What color is her shirt?
Lol. No, but really, the details are insane, especially Peds.
