Broward college May 2012

Published

Hi I would like to apply for the generic May 2012 entry nursing program at Broward college. Any one else looking into applying for this program. Let's help each other out in this process. I know it's a bit early but I'm excited !!!:)

I agree with Lovelyb... It's nice to receive the clarification on these things. It actually makes me feel a little better knowing that North & Central are accepting this summer because it increases the number of accepting applicants. Good luck to all of us!!! Hope we all get in!!!

P.S. SugarBianca - You are a great source to have on this site! Thanks for all the info. :)

Ok so here are my grades for the hesi 76% a&p 86% vocabulary 86% reading 88% grammar and 94% for math. I don't think my anatomy score is enough I am really worried and I am thinking if I should retake it.

2baG8nurse - We have very similar Hesi scores... A&P - 80%, Vocab - 84%, Reading - 88%, Grammar - 92%, Math - 90%. My overrall score is 86.8% and I do not feel very confident about it either. I didn't retake anything and am stressed just like you. Do you know how many points you will be awarded for your gpa? I have heard that the Hesi is more of a tie breaker, but I don't know how true that really is. I am sure they consider everything as they select applicants. Btw... I was awarded 11 points (10 points = 3.4 gpa, 1 point = Broward resident). Not sure it will be enough so fingers crossed!!!

I have 12 point gpa 3.57 and 1 point for (broward resident) I think i might retake the a&p section on friday since the deadline to apply is that same weekend. I am so scared, nervous and confused. I just want to put myself in a better position to be accepted. I am think they look more on the a&p section so i would really like a better grade. Really don't know what to do

I understand exactly what you mean... I am terrified, anxious, nervous, and everything else in between. My best advice to you is do what you think will make you feel better. If you really think you should retake the A&P section than you have a few more days to do it. I have thought about it myself and decided not to (which may of been the dumbest decision...lol). You have a pretty good gpa and a good amount of points so I truly believe you have a good shot. Are you applying to any other schools as backup? I'm applying to Nova, but really don't know my chances of getting in there. I think its more of a mind thing for me... "Just try and see cause you never know sort of thing". However, I don't want to pay those tuition prices, yet I don't want to let time pass me by if I am not accepted to BC. It's a no win situation that I have created for myself...lol.

I just finally got around to turning in my application... so nervous. I'm so mad at myself for getting a C in chemistry! brought my gpa down to a 3.0.. I'm just glad that the lady told me we should all know if we get in my Feb 15th . I'm not sure it 7 points is enough to get in.. wish I would have done hosa in highschool I would have those extra five points! Hopefully since two campuses are accepting people that there is a better chance for me to get in!

Just try to stay positive Lovelyb... I know easier said than done cause I have to keep reminding myself to do the same. Feb 15th isn't that far away. Some people have found out as early as 2 weeks after the application deadline through the BC status page! Hope that's us!

Stay positive Lovelyb, It may be enough, It all depends on how many people apply. Most people I know are applying for August, when I went to drop my application I was doing the only one applying to the nursing program, there was long line, but everyone there was applying for Dental assisting. Even if you don't get in this May and you really want to do nursing, you could look into doing chm1040 or 1045 (they are harder I hear) to replace your chm1032 grade or take it at another school, speak to an advisor about this though. I'm crossing my fingers for you.

Thank you so much! I am crossing my fingers for everybody! I know what you mean about the long line.. I was waiting for twenty minutes and then there was only one person in there waiting to drop off their application. I didn't take Microbiology yet because there were no openings for this semester; so maybe if I don't get in May I will take Micro and something else to boost my gpa up. I would have around 11 points I think if I did hosa, but I guess the only option for that is if you took it in highschool.

If you do have to wait look into doing a chem course too, because when assigning points for your nursing application they only consider your gpa for A&P 1 Lecture and lab, A&P II lecture and lab, Chemistry and Enc1101. Your other classes (eg Humanities, psych, micro etc) are only used as tie breakers.

@hope2bpicuRN

I decided to retake it on friday, only because i am feeling so guilty because i knew i could have done alot better and i would be really upset if i didn't get in because of that. Your score is not bad for a&p, (its out of the 70s). I hope we all get in!!!!

how long after you turn in your application does it show how many points they gave you?
