Just because you like someone, doesn't mean some that someone else doesn't find him intimidating, I liked him too but still found him very intimidating, but at the end I realized, he was just trying to introduce us to the real life or nurses. Now about about failing students: I am pretty sure if you take a survey and ask nursing students why they failed, most will say it 's because , the instructor did not like them. Why an instructor wouldn't like a student ? the number one answer: Attitude. One of the instructor's job is to judge wether or not you will make a good nurse, therefore if he or she feels that you have an attitude, and you don't make any changes, most likely you will fail. Pharmacology is a very broad subject, even you read the book you still won't master the subject .I had professor J, all his tests was straight from the powerpoint and critical thinking questions. I studied the powerpoint only, I end up with a B, I am pretty sure that you read the book and had a C like 80 % of the class. Reading the Pharm book is nice but I would advise a nursing student to do something that would be in his or her best interest because reading the nursing fundamental book is overwhelming itself. Plus you have the davis drug book, that give all the information you need to know about any drug currently on the market. As a student nurse, do you need to know pharmacology? Yes ! but as a student nurse you will ever master the subject in 16 weeks? No !. As you work in the clinical setting you will gain experience and great knowledge of the drugs but still there are so many drugs that come out every year, and you will still have to do research on your own.

Hi everyone, I just joined today!! I am originally from Brazil, and moved to Broward eight months ago. In Brazil, I was an Architect, but have always wanted to be in Healthcare and now I am taking that opportunity. I plan to be a Surgical Nurse after completing the program.

There is a great deal of information on this site, and I hope to make many friends! This is a journey that all of us can be proud of...

With that said, has anyone had experience applying for this program with coursework from a different country? I'm all set with my SSN, work permit, etc...just want to know if/how I can transfer my curriculum.

Thanks everyone! Look forward to hearing from my new nursing sisters!

Hi,

Once you apply they will ask you for all your transcripts. You will have to have them translated and then they will let you know which courses will transfer and count towards nursing. The will let you know the agencies that can do this. Check with admissions for the names cause you will have to request that transcripts are sent directly from the schools you attended to the agency. You will need to have completed Anatomy I and II, college algebra, english composition and a health core course called HCP0001. Then you have to do a nursing school entrance exam called the HESI. After all this you can apply to the nursing program. Hope this helps.

Does anyone remember or know how much classes and books cost the first semester? Did your student loan or financial aid cover it all or did you need extra money? I'm trying to save money and I want an idea of how much the first semester cost. I also have to pay for child care as well.

To Fearless_leader

I will give you an idea, you will have to register for 13 credits that will cost you around $ 1470, books around 400 you might get them cheaper online, the certificate it s 30 dollars online at ceufast.com medical exam, shots etc 260. scrubs 2 pants, 2 shirts 100. So you looking at $ 2000 t0 2200. yes financial aid gives up to 2775 per semester but you may qualify for less , it depends

Hope it helps

Well me and a few others had a different experience with cost. The first semester is going to be the most expensive by far. The total cost of the program cost around $6000 but you spend almost half in the first semester. My classes cost me $1568 + $1,100 in books, uniform and kits. All I got were the books that were needed for the first semester, including "Fundamental of nursing" which is used throughout the entire program.

My financial aid gave me $2250 sub loans per semester but that's because I am currently working.

Is anyone taking the program online?

Thanks ladies. Now I have to rob a bank. ;) "I'm just joking". :nono::no: I'm applying for loans.

[h=1]Hi,

I wanted to know if anyone has any tips on passing nursing process 1? Because we've just taken our first test and I failed with a 30/50 and now need at least a 41 on the next two test to pass. So any tips would be very helpful :)[/h]

i totally agree with you i personally started the nursingprogram at north campus and i had to leave it was totally not for me (atbroward college). From the moment i started all i heard was "withdraw" if youthink your gonna fail the test maybe you should "withdraw", if you think youcant make it because you got really sick maybe you should "withdraw". How aboutany words of encouragement? I understand there is little room and time for b.sand only the dedicated and people who want to be there will be there andsucceed but how is it trying to be a good, caring nurse when our examples don'tgive a dam themselves? I instead left and went to palm beach state and from themoment i walked into admissions it was completley different someone actuallystands there by the door and says "hi, is there anything i can help you with?"its funny too because a lot of people in my classes are from broward as welland live closer to broward but would have rather taken the drive and go to pbs thendeal with them. Other than that i wouldnever have anything bad to say about the nurses that come out of broward theydefinitly know what there doing but the program sucks i really wish they wouldbe just a tad bit nicer. l

Hi everyone! I was accepted into the nursing program for jan 2013... After reading some of the comments I'm not to excited but I'm in so not much I can do now... Anyway which campus do you guys recommend and why??? Thank you!!

Presently into my third semester of pre-reqs at BC north. I am now adding college algebra on to my work load in the winter since I was told if I intend to apply into the program after July 1st 2013 I will most likely need college algebra as it will be replacing CHEM1032 as a pre-req for the nursing program. CHEM1032 will still be needed for the degree but will no longer be listed as a pre-req after that date. I attend North Campus and the program is tough but it challenges you to be a great nurse. Nothing worth having comes easy and we are going to be placed in the position where critical thinking is needed for patients safety. How is your experience so far?
