Hi I would like to apply for the generic May 2012 entry nursing program at Broward college. Any one else looking into applying for this program. Let's help each other out in this process. I know it's a bit early but I'm excited !!!:)

HI sugarbianca, since u r already accepted maybe u can clarify something for me. i had a pre admission status and then it changed to pre program application. Do u know what that means?

Maybe nothing, sounds like you're in. They are still updating statuses as long as you don't see " not accepted" you're good. I'm sure it will go back to pre-admission soon. Mine & a few others who deferred still have "decision deferred" as our statuses.

Yeah, I'm committed in the North Campus Nursing Program. Had I known then what I know now how things are done I would have gone elsewhere. First of all, there is very much the vibe that if they do not fail enough students they are doing something wrong. It's one thing to make things too easy and nobody learns anything, it's another thing to make things so hard that very few succeed. For example while we were in the middle of a series of tests that we had to study for, they made each lab group write and perform a single act play! Really? a play? There have also been rumors floating around how stressed the staff is that inspite of their efforts, too many students are passing and they have to 'do something' about it!! Their latest caper is that they will not let anyone register for classes until the start of the semester. This makes things particularily difficult for students who are receiving financial aid because their rewards are tied to the classes they registered for. If they cant register they cant get their financial aid on time. Most people I try to explain this to act like I am complaining because they make me work for my grades, and that this adveristy will only make me a btter RN. I have no problem with doing the work. I have a problem with having to circumvent their efforts in order to succeed. There is a difference between adversity and sabotage. Will someone please explain to me how performing in a play, or sabotaging my ability to get my much needed financial aid will make me a better RN?

I know what u mean thats why i didnt apply to the program and now im applying to keiser which expensive but is only 16 months and my chances of succeding are way higher than at browards

Hi for this of you who are at south can you tell me about pharmacology with ******* and/or *******? How's did you like them? How were Thor teaching styles? Etc.

And also about the math health professors, ******** and/or ******-*******?

And did you like doing labs at regional or memorial better??

I don't know who to pick for my fall classes..Thanks!

you can do it..................dont let anyone tell you different

Hi itschloeb,

I just finished and passed Pharmacology, my professor was *******. He was okay, the best advice is to follow his 'blueprint' for his exams, that helped a lot. I don't have any experience with ******* so idk who is better. ******* did offer extra credit which was nice.

I had Professor ********* for math, I really like Professor ********* (he's also my Process I & II and clinical instructor).

I believe Professor ******* will be teaching math for the first time next semester idk if that would mean anything to you. She's really nice too. In my opinion the math is very easy.

As far as hospitals go, they're all Memorial (if you attend South campus). I've gone to both Memorial Pembroke and Memorial Regional South. I preferred Regional South, it was a bit more busy and I just had really great experiences with the nurses there compared to Pembroke. I've been told by my classmates that Regional is great as well, it's very busy and very interesting.

Hope this helps! Take Care. :nurse:

My advices to you, Prof ********* could be try intimidating, don't give him attitudes, be polite, show him respect because they could fail you if they don't like you. He failed one of my friend in return demo because she had a bad attitude. Plus for the theory you don't get to see your grade( your scantron), meaning they could do whatever they want. Just keep your mouth shut. I had a friend that was going to miami dade college nursing, they failed her in cardio because she argue with one of the teacher now she s at FNC redoing the whole thing over. If the instructor say you stupid, reply " I know that I am stupid but I am ready to learn". Professor *******, you don't even need the book, just make sure you come to every class, because he has incomplete power point, study from the power point and he give 20 points extra credit. Professor *******, I didn't have any class with her but I see her all the time because she is the lab coordinator, and she seems very nice.

Goodluck

Professor ******* gives you the opportunity to earnextra credit, by taking online quizzes using the MyNursingLab online resource that you get access to when you purchase your textbook. You may be able to purchase just the code for MNL for cheaper w/out the textbook, but I strongly advise against it. You need the textbook, his power points don't cover everything on the exam and in order to complete the blueprint you need to read the material. I think as a nurse you should feel obligated to learn pharmacology.

As far as Professor *********, with my experience he isn't intimidating at all. And I always treat my professors with respect, thats how I was raised. He really stresses on honestly and not just academic honestly, he will explain that it is a requirement/trait that all nurses must have. So I'm very confident that he would never purposely fail anyone just because he didn't like them.

But treating your professors with respect and being polite is certainly good advice, and sure couldn't hurt any student.

I really felt the need to rebuff the previous comment because it contradicted my 1st semester experience.

Take care.
