Hi I would like to apply for the generic May 2012 entry nursing program at Broward college. Any one else looking into applying for this program. Let's help each other out in this process. I know it's a bit early but I'm excited !!!:)
ohh okay, i'll have to drop that one then. are there any other places to take that class other than at broward? i've looked and they are all full a bc
yes there is same place itschloeb said she's doing hers.
i know people who've been able to get overrides done by a health science advisor and got into the class, so you could try that.
i found some classes being offered at the cpr florida offices in west palm and ft. lauderdale for $65 in march and april. cpr florida - cpr aed bls acls pals bloodborne pathogens first aid classes www.cprflorida.net
Hey guys. I was reading this thread and I was wondering if any of you know around how many people deferred their seats? I am about to sign up for the August term but now it seems like the seats will be limited and it is making me really nervous :uhoh21:
I'm not sure how many applicants deferred till August, but either way they always accept more applicants for the August and January terms because all 3 campuses are available to attend. I wouldn't worry so much about the seats being limited. Just continue to do your best completing all the necessary requirements to get accepted and you should be fine.
Hi guys I read somewhere earlier in the thread that there was a class that helps you prepare as far as study skills go for the nursing program. Its an sls class given by instructor italia folleco and I heard that its a great course to take because of how challenging the nursing program is. I just signed up to kind of better prepare myself for august because i did defer, and going in I want to know that I did all I can to be successful in the program, i hope that you guys do the same. I haven't started any of my titers yet because I remember them saying something about them expiring while in the program, so i will start everything next month, the the hep series i will start now. Also I know there is a professor that gives a course with nursing math I would like to ask does any1 know the name of that professor and if someone can email me some sample problems that I could probably get some help on b4 starting in august. My email is [email protected], thank you guys and GOOD LUCK GOD BLESS!!!
Just curious.. But did anybody who have done their certificates needed textbooks? I looked at the broward online book list and didn't see any listed, but wanted to make sure.
except for cpr you don't need a book, they give you handouts, it's just a few hours each. You just listen to the lecture, watch videos and participate in the discussions, you get you certificates at the end of the class.

Give me more info of the sls class. I want to sign up and take it before I start the program in August.
I heard the same thing in the orientation about not taking your titers until you get closer to the program. I'm going to sign up next week for the CPR course in Sheridan. I moved this weekend and lost the packet they gave us at orientation so I might need a list of the things we have to complete before the program starts.

the class code is sls1501 but i'm not sure if they allow just anybody to take it, there are some listed for healths science students only or "this class is for current nursing/chse students only". i know they make the nursing students who fail process 1 take this course before they are allowed to back track. the other sls classes are not specifically for nursing students. i know someone doing it and looking through the book, it seems backward to ask them to tell a study skills for nursing students class after they failed, it's a 1 credit course, maybe they should require you to do the class before you enter the program to cut down on the fail rate. idk just a thought. if you are not allowed to sign up for the class maybe you could just rent/buy the book they use. keys to nursing success . i got this book for a few dollars on amazon used but in a great condition [h=1]how to survive and maybe even love nursing school!: guide for students by students it has lots of practical advice.[/h]

Well the information that initially got was that not just any1 can sign up for this class, my cousin who was in the program told me that when she was in the program you could only take this class if you fail out of the program, when i emailed her she said if you get accepted into the program then you can take it. So i signed up. I suggest for my future classmates to do the same, you could never be prepared.
