Broward College May 2016 RN program

Published

Just wanted to start a thread for Broward's May '16 RN program! I'm finishing up my application process this week.

My hesi was a 87% overall, with 90's in Math, Reading, and Vocabulary, an 84% in grammar, and a 80% in AP.

My prerequisite GPA is a 4.0

Amazon! I got a 6 pack of penlights for $8, stethoscope w/ a cuff and matching bag for $18 and scissors for $6.

PERFECT. Just found the same exact stethescope they sold in the bookstore, for $16.00. she gave me a discount for being a student.

Do you guys mind giving me some tips for the Hesi? I'm taking mine tomorrow and I'm really nervous....mostly because I couldn't focus on studying for it much the past weeks because of finals. I'd really appreciate it. Oh, and also for the nursing program application, I know that when it was done by paper it was a $20 fee, now that's it's done online is there still a fee of $20?!?

I believe the application fee must be paid regardless of how you apply.

Hey did anyone receive the grant from workforce someone had mentioned? Was wondering if it actually was achievable.

you still pay the $20.00 application fee.

well, have you been studying before finals week? if not the HESI is pretty straightforward.

Personally, I did my strongest subjects first and that left me plenty of time to do my weakest subjects.

you're given a basic online calculator for math.

Ok. Honestly I skimmed thru the book and did some practice problems before finals (from the book and also online). But I'm tired of stressing about it and hearing some people tell me it's easy & some saying it's hard. I'm just going to take it and do my best.

i did a post about the test after i took it.

keep in mind if you score less than 75% on any section it is $60 to retake that section or sections.

it will be easy for some, hard for some. depends on how well you know the tested material.

math- basics. fractions, percents, decimals and converting between them. ratio/proportion.basic algebra. word problems like "what percent of x is x?"

"there are x total students, x amount are boys, how many are girls"

vocab- simple if you're a reader. some common medical terms thrown in.

reading- know the overall tone, authors intent, main idea, etc.

AP- very random. know the cell and its functions, heart, hormones and their functions.

grammar- pick the grammatically correct sentence, use of words like "their, there", punctuation.

The $20.00 fee still applies. Right now Broward College is transitioning into paperless applications but you will need to submit the paper application and your HESI scores to be considered. You will not be charged again if you have already been charged the $20.00 fee.

North Campus: Has anyone gotten the email yet about dress code for our first day? Or a syllabus from any of our proffesors?

No I was wondering the same thing.. The dean said she would send it out.
