Just wanted to start a thread for Broward's May '16 RN program! I'm finishing up my application process this week.
My hesi was a 87% overall, with 90's in Math, Reading, and Vocabulary, an 84% in grammar, and a 80% in AP.
My prerequisite GPA is a 4.0
i didnt see the study guide in the bundle, or in the required list on the bookstore website. i only saw the clinical companion for the fundamentals text. i dont think we need the perry study guide.
If you click "get textbooks" it says fundamentals w/study guide. I mean, it can't hurt to have an extra study guide anyway.
Rent Textbooks | Cheap College Textbook Rentals | BookRenter.com also rents books, from $14.99-30.00 for 160 days.
amazon has some great deals on used books, current editions!
the most ezpensive i've found is the lewis med-surg book, its arouns $80.0, and used to buy it, and around $30.00 rent
Has anyone spoken to a nursing student who has already been through both process i and ii?
I'd really like to know which books are worth buying (used/new) to keep throughout nursing school, which ones you'll only use for x amount of time where renting would be a better choice, and which ones will never be used.
I like to keep books which is why I tend to not rent and usually buy used, and only rent when the book being rented isn't at all going to be used later but is sort of needed now.
The $347 "bundle" which has the required books includes:
Perry - Clinical Nursing Skills and Techniques
Potter - Fundamentals of Nursing
Lewis - Medical Surgical Nursing Text
Pagana - Mosby Diagnostic & Lab Test Reference
Jarvis - Pocket Companion for Physical Examination and Health Assessment
Castilo - Strategies, Techniques, & Approaches to Critical Thinking
-----
I've heard that the only books we will actually need are Potter's Fundamentals, a workbook from Perry's Clinical, and Castillo's STAT.
I heard this in passing from a nursing student who's almost done with nursing school.
What have you guys heard?
Any nursing students who are way ahead of me mind lending a hand with which books will really be necessary?
