Broward College January 2019

Published

Hey everyone!

I know it's a little early to start this but I just submitted my application yesterday and wanted to know if anyone else has submitted theirs yet.

I am looking to go to Central campus and I'm impatiently waiting to see if I have been accepted.

I received 9 points. In general my grades are a B average with one A. I read on the forum for the class that started in August that the lowest they took was a 8 points, if I'm not mistaken. If this rule is in affect then students with a lower points (still a B average) have higher chances of getting accepted.

Hi,

I applied for January 2019. My points are up. I have 10 points and I scored an 84 on my Hesi.

I got Bs in both anatomy lectures and As in the anatomy labs. I got a B in English but I don't know how the point system works.

Congrats on everyone's points!! I hope we all get in. We still have a while until we find out unfortunately

I know it's based on your gpa for those three classes. So I got A's in AP1 and AP1 lab, B's in AP2 and the lab, and a B in English. So my prerequisite gpa is a 3.36 so I got 9 points. If you go to the Broward nursing admissions criteria page it shows how many points you get for your prerequisite gpa

I sent my application yesterday through email. How long did it take for them to review yours and give you points? And where do you go to see your application status on myBC is that where you view your points as well?

Yea on your MyBC look under limited application status. That's were you'll see your application status and your points once it's update. As far as how soon you should see your points it really just depends. I think the only reason I have points now is because I turned in my application all the way back in May. Some of the students who applied for the August term didn't see their points until a few days before decisions went out. Sorry I know this doesn't help much

Thanks I appreciate it.

Well 9/15 is the deadline for the program starting 1/2019 so if you wanted to retake a class and have them use the new grade to consider your application & increase your chances of getting accepted you would need to turn in those grades in by 9/15.

Any class that any student retake for better grade will not be used in consideration for admission to BC program only the grade you get for your 1st attempt will be used. This i think will apply for the May 2019 program

TAKE NOTE:

As of the January application pool we are no longer using second attempts. If you received a passing grade in ENC1101, BSC2085, BSC2085L, BSc2086 or BSC2086L the FIRST time you took the class, that is the grade we are using.

The only way we would use a repeated class if it you received a D or F (or withdrew) the first time.

Right. Its confusing b/c deadline for Jan 2019 program is 9/15, im going to find out if a student retook a class at another school such as Keiser in summer 2018 will that grade be accepted for the Jan 2019 program.

OR

Does it mean that retakes starting Jan 2019 semester will not be considered for next nursing program which is the May 2019 program

No it will not be accepted. NO retakes are being accepted if the student received a passing grade the first time.

Hi everyone:

I see a lot of wrong information about retakes. This is the new policy and it is in effect starting with this application period we are in now (for January 2019):

Retakes for a better grade will no longer be considered starting with the

January 2019 pool. The first successful attempt (Grade of A, B, or C) in

ENC1101, BSC2085, BSC2085L, BSC2086, and BSC2086L will be used to

calculate the admissions GPA.

Regardless of when you retook a class, the new grade will NOT be used if you received a passing grade the first time you took the course. The policy is posted on the admissions criteria sheet as well as on the Nursing website.

I think BC might be contradicting what they're saying here. On one line It states retakes for a better grade may not be accepted, but on another It states the first successful attempt is accepted. A first successful attempt would be a C or high therefore you cannot retake that class for a better grade that would give you higher points (B or A), but if you fail with a D or lower you CAN retake the class for a first successful atempt (C, B, or A) This is what I'm understanding. Correct me if I'm wrong? Because that is how the advisor just explained It to me. If this is correct that means they're simplifying the process somewhat for 2019 applicants. #HELP lol
