I know there is a lot of confusion going around with the new requirements for the BC nursing program so I wanted to start a thread for those of us finishing prerequisites and applying in January. I'm in the Core class now, but other than that I'm finished with everything else and getting very excited to start next year!
Taking into consideration that starting in the summer makes it a little more challenging;
It takes full dedication of time, falling behind is not an option. I've only been in for a week so the only advice I would give you at this point is to prepare in advance. Take care of any issues you may have before hand so you can forget about the rest of the world once you start. Be organized, be prepared, and be on time.
Besides that peice of cake!

I disagree about forgetting the world. You CANNOT just act like it's all about nursing and only nursing. Granted, I'm in the transition program and maybe it's a little easier for us but you WILL alienate your support system and if you don't take a break, you WILL burnout. I get so frustrated when I hear people state that they have no life. Yes, you do. My boyfriend is in the generic program and although this first week has been killer for him we still have some time to be with each other/family, etc. Also it will get a little easier. Depending on your campus this hectic week schedule will not carry over. Breathe. Relax. Don't forget your family or friends because if you alienate your support system (like I had in the LPN program) when you need it most they won't be around like you want them to. Just a word of advice. Yes, study, study, study then....relax.
Hey do you come on here to find things on other peoples post to argue with? It's a figure of a speech.

Hmm. Me thinks I pushed a button. Take a chill pill. That figure of speech is overused and DOES SCARE other prospective students. So yea it bugged me but what would give you the right to state I only come here to argue? Believe me, when I argue, you'll know. :) you're stressing over petty things.
Thanks guys. If I go I will be transitioning. So hopefully it won't be too bad. I feel like if I can do the LPN program that I'm in now from 7-1:45 5 days a week with clinical and tests 2-3 days a week than the RN program will be a piece of cake. Kinda. Lol[/quote']I'm sure you'll do great! Thy said the first semester would be the hardest and then it gets easier. So far I'm doing MTB1370 which is Math for healthcare prof. And HSC1149 Pharmacology. So far the math is tedious. The pharm is a lot. :)
Wow.... Well I understand how busy it can be, & the stress of it all. I've had several friends that have completed BC program. & they handled the program differently. My friend worked 3 / 12hr's shifts and went to class. Was she stressed heck yeah! She studied and made time for her family (2 kids & boyfriend). Mind you she received A's & B's. 5 yrs later she's a clinical manager at Memorial. Another friend single mom of 4 worked the weekends at the hospital and balanced it all out. Stress is how you react to it. How you handle it is what makes a difference. My plan is to not work at all the first semester. & while I'm waiting to start the program I'll practice math dosage calculations, Pharmcology, & assessement. With the advice of recent graduates. Good luck to everyone!!!
By the way yes I am one that like to hear updates. So if anyone have the time please share. Thanks!!
Hello future students,
So this is me trying to keep in touch- 1st week not bad , a lot of info. I think my most difficult task is getting organized. Read the book, read power point, take notes at lecture, study guide. Then there's the skills book, and the case studies. This is just one class. I think I'll have it down soon. Oh, and I still like it :) Good Luck !!
It's been a big change for me. Most of my time is spent studying Nursing Process I. You have a lot on material to read and try to absorb then material. Then go over teachers power points, and then making notes and taking practice quizes to help study. I feel like it's not enough and keep going back trying to get every detail. I haven't gotten much done else besides class and studying atm =P
