Anyone Applying to the fall 2020 Nursing program at broward college , that is getting ready to take or have taken the HESI ?

Did you work while in school? What were your study habits? You didn't take long between graduation and testing. I guess it is safe to say BC really prepares you ?. Sorry for all the questions... LOL ?.
I went to central campus! I did not work. I took out student loans - everyone's situation is different. I wanted to focus solely on nursing school itself. I studied a lot. I would say around 6-8 hours per day at least. The first semester is the hardest because you have pharm, math, process 1 theory, and process 1 clinical. I highly recommend developing time management skills or getting a planner to organize! That definitely helped me during the hectic days. BC definitely prepares you for the hospital and to take the board exam. STUDY HARD and LEARN the information. do no memorize!

Thank you! The scholarship is either through Broward General or Memorial Hospital systems. The scholarship recruiters come during GIGU to explain the details. I would focus on the first semester because it is a a lot of material to understand. I have many friends that worked during the program. I personally did not. But they were able to manage! Just make sure that your days of work do not interfere with clinical days!
@Grace Bee I plan on changing from working full time to part time . I wanted to know where there are any tutors to help with studying and learning the material . Can I email you ?

Wooow 6-8 hours per day a minimum, that is intense. I am currently working full time as the lead CMA. I plan to cut my hours drastically once I start the program ?. I kinda had an idea that memorization would not work as well as in nursing school compared to other courses. I am blessed with a crazy photographic memory and it is a double-edge sword. I did purchase a planner. I am usually a person who just goes along with the chaos and what will be will be...but I am practicing how to manage my days. Thank you so much for your input.

Thanks so much for the info! I have a lot to think about as far as working during the program. Once I know if I'm accepted and see the schedule, I'll make a decision then. I saw your other post, I'm so excited about getting a planner and actually using it, I'll definitely be keeping your advice in mind. ?
Hi everyone!
I just wanted to check in myself and see how you guys are doing! I hope you and your families are well. Let me know if you have any questions.
Please remember we have 30 business days to process all apps and make our decisions. Once decisions are made, they will be sent to your BC email address. No need to check it every 5 minutes but get in the habit of checking it, if you do not already.
I hope to have everyone's points updated by Friday.

Hello!
All is well! Hope you are staying sane with the admissions process from home! Is it strange it puts my soul at ease to hear from you? ?
Thank you So much for the updates and keeping us informed. It really helps with the process. It’s exciting and scary and there’s a lot on the line so having this thread to be able to talk to others about it is very helpful. I’ve limited myself to checking MyBC in the afternoons only so I don’t have an unhealthy relationship with the site ?.
Hope everyone is doing good as well! ❤️

It is definitely a strange time in my little bubble of admissions. This is the first time in 10 years I have had to admit from home... conduct pre-admissions sessions online BUT the good news is, we learn how to improve every semester when it comes to that. So I guess that's a plus? ?♀️
This board is for you all! I am not here to creep and monitor. If you need to vent about the process, by all means, vent. Hearing the good, bad, and ugly helps us improve the process. I don't jump in unless something is directed at me or to clear up any misinformation.

It's amazing how this response soothed my heart. Thanks for checking up on us. I just got home today after spending a few days at Memorial Regional Hospital(I love that hospital BTW). Unfortunately, my dad has a history of CHF and I noticed he was getting worse. Thankfully, he is home now and better. I remember in a previous post you mentioned someone in your family was sick. I pray they are doing well. I am working both in the office and from home. It's funny how I use to wish I could do medical records from home but I actually miss my little office and interacting with patients ?. Having you on this forum is great help...lead us to the right path. ?

Oh no! I am so glad he is doing better! I am sure he had great nurses ?Memorial is a great hospital; so many of our graduates work there. Thanks for checking, my mother in law had COVID-19 but she is back to her normal spunky old lady self (shhhh don't tell her I said that LOL).
I actually do miss being in the office. One of the highlights of my day is interacting with you guys. But safety first! One day we will all be back on campus and you guys can come visit me ?

You guys got this. Micro was tough but it’ll be over in no time. Can’t wait to *fingers crossed* meet you all too. I’m staying positive but worried if my points will be enough if they end up accepting less than the normal amount because of the pandemic.
