Broward College August 2013

  1. Do you think Broward College Pre's should have change or stayed the same?

      I like the credit change.
    • The preq's should have stayed the same.
    • I think it's great because it helps more students to become prepared for the nursing program.
    • This is just a setup for more students to fail and for the school to get more money out of us.
    • Doesn't matter

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

I'm starting this thread for students looking to start(ing), and (or) finishing there pre's by spring of 2013 at Broward College. Also for those who are entering (or) looking to enter the Nursing Program in Fall 2013.

We are exactly one year away from this program. So tell me what classes are you taking or have left?

I have Fall Math Intermediate, A&P II lab only, and Computers (need 6 credits to get loans.) Winter College Algebra or Statistics and Chem 1032& Chem lab

Summer Microbiology and Micro Lab.

Yesterday I visted advisement at South, and when I was leaving I got a wake up call that now I will only live, eat, breath nursing school. I never felt this way before. Once me and my advisor went over my Education Plan I started to feel that school going to get harder. Hey I can do this and so can you.

** Let me know your thoughts guys. Until....

I almost registered for South Campus, but ultimately ended up registering for Central Campus. I still need to complete both of my background checks and some hcp courses.

Anyone getting their bachelors in nursing?

Anyone getting their bachelors in nursing?

Me!!! :)

Should I take HCP 0001 at Broward college or at Sheridan tech online? What are the pros and cons?

Broward college:

Pros: cheap, you learn more, you can practice with classmates using BP cuff, PPE, etc..., class is very useful if you are going freshman in nursing school in BC

Cons: other HSC certificates required for RN program are not included, class is kinda long (6 hr class)

Sheridan:

Pros: you dont need to go drive to school..just come in for your final test. other HSC certificates required for RN program are included.

Cons: expensive, people I know who went there wished they went to BC instead, there is a wait for approval from nursing department after you apply for the program. :)

Turned in my portfolio today...Uniforms, shoes, 2nd hand watch & stethscope bought...Classes paid...This procrastinator has never been so freakin organized in my life...lol Feeling accomplished!!! Best of luck everyone!!!

Here is an experience I found by searching the forum, this has nothing to do with the creator of this thread, and it was not written by her/him, this is a different user, and the quote below is not a private conversation between that person and myself, I'm simply sharing her experience (which was publicly posted on this forum before, link below) on this thread, people who are applying to this program, should know and hear about both the positive and negative experiences, not just the good ones, not everything is goody goody in life

I'm in the Central campus and so far I've seen TWO instructors that fit the bill on that. The others are actually very good. I just passed the LPN transition/process 1 and 2 with a C. No one said its going to be easy but I can tell you this, I always ask for a BC nurse in a hospital. It's a tough program, but the nurses that come out are amazing.

Are the tests you get similar to LPN tests? What do you learn in process 1 and 2?

Absolutely not. Depending on which instructor you get you may have different formats like scantron, computer, or written. My experience, and ill be honest, we had to teach ourselves the material and even then we lost a lot of people. Process 1 and 2 is the Fundamentals and skills portion. It's what we learned in the whole year of LPN school. You will have those two classes, pharmacology and a math for meds class. In my opinion Process 1 and 2, generic and LPN transition, are the "weeding out" semester. Return Demo was harsh and we lost the majority through that portion. If you have any other questions you can PM me :)

dying2bRN,

For the online background check it asks for the "Certification" Did you turn in the Results pages that consists of about 5 pages or is the a specific 1 page Certification that I just can't seem to find?
