Broward College August 2011

Hi guys, is anyone else working towards starting the nursing program at BC in August 2011? I am working on my last pre-reqs this semester (spring 11) and then apply and hopefully get accepted for the fall semester. I just took and passed the hesi exam last night and that is one big load off my back. I also started my hep shots since it takes 3 rounds of shots and a total of 6 months to be fully immunized. I want to have all of my ducks in order to start the program. I am undecided whether to go to south or central campus. Any advice?

Thanks for the info/motivation! I am not AS nervous now! I am finishing my HCP now at Sheridan, it includes the CEU's, and my transcripts/certificates will be ready for pick up Sept 13th!! So I am going to cut it short on timing, but will JUST make the deadline. Fingers Crossed & Praying!!!

If you dont mind, can I ask, how do you like the program so far? Do give a preference for a campus if accepted? (Honestly, I dont even care, as long as I get in!! lol) And, I am taking Micro over the Fall with Khan.. Any reviews of him that you know of?? :)

Thanks for your help again!!! Congratulations again to you!!!

Actually the semester starts today and my first class is Pharm at 5pm, so I cant really give you an opinion on the program. I chose central campus simply because it is close to my home and because my mother teaches there and I will need her to pick up my son from the childcare center located on campus. Really though I have heard good and bad about all three campuses. I cant comment on Micro since I haven't even taken it yet. I am taking it during the half summer that we will have off next year.

HI everyone!

anyone out here that has orientation at 1pm at central campus for nursing process 1? do you know if we have to attend class at 9 am also or is it just for tomorrow that we go at 1? please anyone let me know if they have an answer?

:ancong!: Ladies and Gentleman from the RN program, This is to inform you that you have only one day to detoxify yourself from FB, Tweeter, Skype, your family and friends to be glued to your new mate (Nursing Program @ BC) for the next 16-18 months. One day and a wake up, hahhahahahah I am so excited!!! I Wish success to all. May God pour out his blessing upon us and give us a double portion of the intelligence he gave to King Solomon.

To myself and all other procrastinators, from now on grab your pompom and start being your owm cheerleader. As you can see i started already :anpom::anpom::anpom::anpom::anpom::anpom:

Very sweet of you and good luck to you too, we must finish what we started, it's a one rope journey across the ocean and there is no turning back or looking down otherwise you drop....lol

Hello everyone. Congrats on getting accepted.

I got all my pre-req completed including the HCP certification. All I need is to take the HESI test before the deadline for registration. I had a few quick questions.

I bought the study guide and saw they had a section for Biology, Chemistry and Physics. But when I look at the info in broward.edu it does not include those sections. Should I study those sections in the study guide?

My last question is how to calculate my pre-req GPA. I just want to get an idea on how many points I have.

These are my grades:

Enc1101 - B

Chm1032 - A

BSC1085 - B

BSC1085L - C

BSC1086 - A

BSC1086L - A

HCP1030 - S

I appreciate any info you guys can give me and good luck on the program.

Ladies and gents where did u guys go to get all the medical stuff done? I was told there are several clinics that do everything. Looking for something between coral springs or sunrise area.

Also how is it going so far with lecture?? Lots of notes or is it slow starting like south campus.

Here is how you calculate ur gpa

ENC1101 -- B = 3 points for grade x 3 credit hours =9

CHM-- A = 4 points for grade x 3 credit hours =12

1085--------B = 3 x 3 =9

1085L ------C = 2 points for grade x 1 credit hour = 2

1086--------A = 4 x 3 = 12

1086L------ A = 4 X 1 =4

add the total points earned (numbers in last row) and divde it by the total credit hours attempted

48/15=3.2 gpa that will give you 8 points plus 1 more if you are a broward resident. Do well on the HESI and you should get in

Thank you so much for that littlegirlblue. Can you tell me if Biology, physics and chemistry are going to be on the HESI like it is on the study guide?

Hey littlegirlblue, I did the calculations like you told me and I got 48/14 = 3.42. I did it like five times. I hope I'm doing it right :(

YOURS is right I divded mine by 15 credit hours. Hope I dont make a silly mistake like that on the math test. you will have 10 points plus 1 if you live in broward. Dont worry as long as you pass the HESI you will get in.

No do not study those sections Broward does not require them and you wont get any extra points for doing them. When you go in to take the HESI you will get to choose what subjects to take and in what order to take them. Since our school doesnt require those three, dont take the test for them.

Hi, I hope everyone survived their first week in Nursing school. WOW is this overwhelming! I am still trying to figure out how to study for Lecture. We have our first Lecture exam in South campus next week on Friday. I am crossing all of my fingers and toes hoping I pass it. I am going to go and spend a couple of hours at open lab tomorrow. I want to start getting ready for our first return demo.

How are you guys holding up?
