Broward College August 2011

Hi guys, is anyone else working towards starting the nursing program at BC in August 2011? I am working on my last pre-reqs this semester (spring 11) and then apply and hopefully get accepted for the fall semester. I just took and passed the hesi exam last night and that is one big load off my back. I also started my hep shots since it takes 3 rounds of shots and a total of 6 months to be fully immunized. I want to have all of my ducks in order to start the program. I am undecided whether to go to south or central campus. Any advice?

To anyone attending central campus I have a few questions.

1. Are we supposed to wear the polo to the Pharm and Math class or is it just for Process? My first class is Pharm tomorrow.

2. Are your classes up on blackboard already? Mine aren't.

3. At the central campus orientation I recall the lady saying that we would receive emails advising when we would be having a second orientation for the nursing process class. Have you all received any emails regarding a second orientation?

hey!

Im kind of wondering the same thing about the polo and no i haven't received any more e-mails.. My math class starts next thursday so my first class is also pharm. I really wanna know if we have to wear the polo to class tomorrow.. If you find out please let me know.

I called the office and they told me to email the professor. Well I dont have his email address and I cant log into the broward email system, seems like the new system is down. I am just going to bring the shirt with me just in case.

Are your classes up on blackboard? Mine still are not up.

Congrats to everyone that got accepted for Aug 2011!!! :yeah:I'm currently in my 3rd semester at North Campus (starting Psych in Aug.) If anyone has any questions/concerns or needs any tips/advise.. especially pertaining to North Campus just let me know and I'd be happy to help :)..

Hi codabrown, how did you manage your time for the readings and the lecture notes? If it were a monday and you had to get the readings done for friday, did you set a timeframe to read the chapters? did you have enough time to type the answers into a word doc before the lecture? I am trying to figure out how to do this when we have clinicals and are in the hospital almost all day, plus manage time for pharmacology and math. Right now I am done with the readings before the first class, and I am trying to write a word doc with answers for the objectives, but is taking so much time that I am not sure how to do when classes start. Any suggestions or a sample of your day hours will be appreciated :confused:. Thanks.

My status just changed to alternate pending seat avail so im still crossing my fingers. CONGRATS to everyone who made it. I have 7pts 89.5% HESI

Congrats on your acceptance! I am applying for the Jan 2012 term, I have a 3.57 GPA for the pre-req and an overall 85% on the hesi.. I am concerned that I wont be accepted.. I do not know how the points/hesi scores/ect take into account! Do you remember what your breakdown was on the HESI sections or know what the minimum score for each section is?? I am thinking maybe I should retake the HESI?? But wasnt sure if that really doesnt make a BIG difference, because they receive all of your scores anyways right??

Any suggestions would be appreciative!!

You're so in dont worry about it. with a 3.0 i had 6 pts plus 1 plus for being a broward resident with your 3.5 you will have 11 pts add another if you live in broward. I was selected as an orginal alternate and all the alternates were accepted and I believe later on they added a second alternate group who also ended up getting in. They look at your GPA first then if you have the same GPA as another student the HESI score will be the tie breaker. Again dont worry you will be accepted. In the mean time make sure you get all yout CEU's done and put aside some money to take care of the immunization requirements and background checks.

Thanks for the info/motivation! I am not AS nervous now! I am finishing my HCP now at Sheridan, it includes the CEU's, and my transcripts/certificates will be ready for pick up Sept 13th!! So I am going to cut it short on timing, but will JUST make the deadline. Fingers Crossed & Praying!!!

If you dont mind, can I ask, how do you like the program so far? Do give a preference for a campus if accepted? (Honestly, I dont even care, as long as I get in!! lol) And, I am taking Micro over the Fall with Khan.. Any reviews of him that you know of?? :)
