Hi guys, is anyone else working towards starting the nursing program at BC in August 2011? I am working on my last pre-reqs this semester (spring 11) and then apply and hopefully get accepted for the fall semester. I just took and passed the hesi exam last night and that is one big load off my back. I also started my hep shots since it takes 3 rounds of shots and a total of 6 months to be fully immunized. I want to have all of my ducks in order to start the program. I am undecided whether to go to south or central campus. Any advice?

Thanks I really appreciate that. I feel a little relieve !

Hi everyone

I am new at this . I was wondering if Can get in the nursing program at broward college with a 3.20 Gpa. I score 89 in the hesi . I score

Math 92

Vocabulary 80

Reading comprehension 91

Grammar 90

A&p 88

What is my chance in getting into the nursing program. Please reply I am so frustrated cause i want to start in january 2012

You'll get in, your Hesi scores resemble my score expect I scored lower on A&P. my GPA was 3.5 and my science GPA was 3.2( i think), Don't stress about it, I know class mates that got in with much lower scores and GPA.

Oh I feel so much better right now. Thanks a lot. I have one more question. I didnt take the hcp0001 because I have a hha certificate. I spoke with a lady at the sciences departement she said I just have to bring the hha certificate. do you guys think the hha is equivalent with the hcp ? I just want to make sure.

Just take it to her. if they accept it, they will it will reflect on your degree audit as waived. Stop stress yourself you're doing much better than most people. ::)

Ok I lll try to stop stressing myself. Thanks alot guys !

Congrats to all of you for getting in! I will start my 3rd semester this week at South Campus. If you guys have any questions or concerns just let me know, I will be happy to help you out. I remember my first semester I was so scared and overwhelmed and didnt know how I would get through it all but just know that you will and take things 1 assignment at a time. If you're not accustomed to using a planner now is the time to start...when I would get the syllabus I would write the reading and all other assignments on there to make sure I would get it done prior to the class day...always read the chapters they will lecture on before that way when you go to class this is the second time you'll be hearing the info and the more you hear it the better...Oh and make sure you really do your homework by the due date they will ask you to step out of the class until you complete it and you will miss whatever the rest of the class is going over and you can't afford to miss that...I had KG and JCS and they both did this. Know that you will be studying 12 hours a day and you will just be getting C's....but also know that at the end of Process 2 life gets so much better and you'll go back to getting good grades! =) Oh and use your modules...what I did was that I would read the modules first and then have it right next to me while I was reading and highlight my book according to the module...this was a huge help because its so much info that you just cant get it all in your head.

Now for math...dont worry about this just do the homework assigned and its pretty easy. If your not good at math do 10 problems every single day to get you ready..there are alot of practice problems if you google "Broward college nursing math" this is the north campuses website and that professor posts alot of good info and practice problems.

Pharm: If you have Json then he is easy...you dont need the book...before each test he will give you a blueprint and exactly what is on that blueprint will be on the test...its just memorization. If you have the other professor Jman like some of my classmates they did need the book and you have to read but I heard he gives a lot of extra credit questions which really helped out.

For you return demos...live in the lab...practice practice practice. Its simple stuff they test you on for Process 1 but your nerves get the best of you sometimes...just try to breath =)

Again good luck to you guys and let me know if I can be of any help.

Thank you so much for all of this information!! I am getting ready nervous because the bookstore has been out of the modules for a couple of weeks :( I read the chapters but like you said, it was way to much information to memorize. I am going to go by the bookstore on Thursday again and see if they have gotten them in. I am also missing the orientation packet. Let the stress begin!!!

Since from what I've read here i think your class has JCS for a professor so it may be different but when we had KG she would upload the modules in blackboard...so maybe if you wait till blackboard opens up for you guys it will be there and you guys can save yourself a couple of bucks. We had the same issue with the orientation packet back in January but they were aware and ended up giving us copies during the first few days of clinical so try not to stress about that.

Yes the hha certificate is used as a waiver- that's what I have and they gave me the waiver. Upon acceptance they will ask you to just provide proof of the waiver on ur transcript. Good Luck!!!

Thanks so much !

But how i will be able to provide the proof of the waiver ?

Do i have to print out my transcript ?

yes, wen the waiver is applied and u look at ur transcript-u will c 'area waived'. Just print the entire transcript and use a highlighter to hightlight that section, then submit it with ur other documents. This is only after acceptance, orientation...wen u go to apply jus show them ur certificate.

Thanks ! I appreciate that
