Broward College August 2011

Published

Hi guys, is anyone else working towards starting the nursing program at BC in August 2011? I am working on my last pre-reqs this semester (spring 11) and then apply and hopefully get accepted for the fall semester. I just took and passed the hesi exam last night and that is one big load off my back. I also started my hep shots since it takes 3 rounds of shots and a total of 6 months to be fully immunized. I want to have all of my ducks in order to start the program. I am undecided whether to go to south or central campus. Any advice?

Does anyone know the Pharm book we need for South Campus?

I asked the professor and he says the one they have in the book store. I went to the bookstore and it is a large hardcover book. Just go in and ask and they will direct you. I am not home with my book, if not I would give you the ISBN number ;)

Congratulations to all those that got accepted yesterday!! That is GREAT news!!! When will they let you register? Hopefully soon!! Congrats!! :yeah:

@ sunshinegirlflorida, we were the last group to be accepted and for that reason our classes will be automatically registered for by the nursing department and also our campus will be allocated according to our home address that is the campus closest to our home address cos there are only two campuses left, north and central. It's kinda crazy but I guess that's what we get for been on an alternate list and I bet it's way better than not been accepted. :jester:

Quickie!

What are the required score for the HESI A2? I remember at one point I read that it had to be an overall 75%. But now, I'm reading that there are NO required score and that they (BC Nursing Dept., I guess) just reviews it. Plse help, I received a 73% my first time :smackingf and plan on retaking 2 out of the 5 sections before the next application date

Thnx in advance for your help

It's 75% overall cumulative...

At least 75% in each section. So if you got an 80% overall but one section was 72% you would need to take that section over. This is want I was told by nursing admissions back in April when I was preparing for the HESI. Dont know if anything has changed since then.

No specifically you need 75 % on everything. Specially math and a&p. Like me I had an overall of 85% cause I had 100 in one 90 on another but 72 and 74 on math and a&p!

So I retook them both. Got 85% on both

@ praying01, yes u're right I also read on d website that there were no required scores recently. But to be safe I'll advise you re-do the ones you had less that %75 or re-do d entire test so you can score above %80 after all you will be paying for d whole test again and not just part of it. Few months Before I took my test, on the testing website it says scores are not required after scoring %80 overall with d exception of math I had %69, that was when I saw on d website that there waz a passing score required. Don't rely on that info try to redo d test and get over %80 with good gpa on ur prerequisite, then you can guarantee yourself an admission. Regardless it's always better to go to north or central campus to ask question before u retake the test because they know beta. Goodluck:up:

I just took the HESI exam for the second time (last week) and again, I failed the Anatomy section. I scored in the 90's on everything else. I studied the book that's recommended but in my opinion, it was useless. Only about 2 questions were in the actual exam. Anyone have any tips on how to pass the Anatomy section of the HESI exam? I would very much appreciate it. Thanks.

@tashee, I think d questions on anatomy are pretty much from what we did on d anatomy labs, if you understood how d body systems such as d endocrine, brain vertebra, neurons and plenty more works then you can almost put d puzzle together cos I had some real basic questions such as what part of the body does d incus, malleus and stapes belongs? D options were; eye, ear, nose and something else I can't remember. If you try to revise a lot of stuff from anatomy labs you will do fine. Girl keep trying until you get at least %80 on anatomy, even though on the nursing website it says there are no scores required, just try to be safe cos you never can tell what they will be looking at to qualify students for seats. D good news is you just have to focus on just anatomy so take ur time and study it before you retest this time..good luck :nurse:
