Broward College August 2011

Published

Hi guys, is anyone else working towards starting the nursing program at BC in August 2011? I am working on my last pre-reqs this semester (spring 11) and then apply and hopefully get accepted for the fall semester. I just took and passed the hesi exam last night and that is one big load off my back. I also started my hep shots since it takes 3 rounds of shots and a total of 6 months to be fully immunized. I want to have all of my ducks in order to start the program. I am undecided whether to go to south or central campus. Any advice?

Hi everyone! I had two quick questions...

- Can you retake any pre-reqs and replace the grades for them? Ex...if you got a C in AP1 could you retake for the A to boost your gpa?

- What is the course code for the HCP course offered at Sheridan?

Look forward to hearing from you all

depends on where you live and what works best for you...

one person posted on here that they were able to go to the walmart clinic, they got their physical and a shot for a really good price. (a few pages back they posted a price list on here.)

someone else mentioned doctors 365 in plantation, i know they have a price list on their website that lists everything! i went there, was cost-friendly, but i only needed titers.

there are other places too like health clinics, you can find them online.

thank you :yeah:

You should probably speak to an advisor and see what they said. I have a friend that got a D in Chemistry and they are letting her take it again and that will make a huge difference in her points for the program. I am not sure if they will allow you to do that with a C. If they don't try to get the highest grade possible on the HESI. They seem to really look at those scores these days. Good luck!!

Hey! I got into the nursing program at BC, and I need an advise to know which campus is best for the program?

Congrats on getting into the program, we are all super excited! I would go to the campus that is closest to you. We are going to be living at school and clinicals for the next 18 months so it is probably best to be close to it :) I have heard many things from all campuses. I think as long as you go in with the right attitude you will do just fine. Good luck!!

Hi, thanks so much! I called and spoke with an advisor. She said you cannot retake anything with a C or above unless you do it at a private institution. She also advised me that although I may have a low gpa that they are looking more at HESI scores. She encouraged me to get a high score on the HESI and retake anything below a 75%.....looks like I'll have a chance :yeah:

As far as the health core course at Sheridan, she said its better to take it at Broward because the Sheridan course does not have a clinical component.

If I may ask, how many Cs do you have on all of ur pre-req courses?because I had 2 Cs in both A&P1 lecture and chemistry and %86 on my Hesi and I got into the program but I was on d alternate list though.

i was in broward college nursing and i withdraw if you need the books. I'll be willling to sell them all !!!!!

we can meet up on campus !!! i you are interested !!

Are we just taking the test or getting the actual shots if don't already have them? Plz how does it work? Cos I just got in d program and my orientation is July 28, I need to get all these info so I can start taking mines tomorrow.thanks.

english - B, AP1 lecture B, AP1 lab C, AP2 lecture/lab C...still have to take chemistry...I feel like there's no hope for me :crying2:

So when you were on the alternate list they called you back for that entry term? Or did you have to start the next term?

I applied for this august 2011, after I guess some selected people for orientation for July 14th didn't show up, they started to send out Letter to alternate list student, so am starting august 18th, I only had 6 points, 5 points from my gap and 1 point as a broward resident, I'll just say that God is on my side cos i was ready to start Kaplan on august 3rd this yr, was huts getting ready to order d test book to take d entrance exam for Kaplan nursing sch when I checked my email and saw d acceptance letter, still couldn't believe it.

Don't give up try to make sure you get an A on chemistry and your Hesi at least be on the 80s and you will be fine, I had to take my hesi 3x just to get %86 and it cost me $85 for every test I took so you can imagine, you never can tell what will happen especially when God is on your side. The Cs on the 1 credit course don't really affect much but Cs on the 3 credit course is what does the damage to ur gpa

Thanks still trying to understand how to use this thrend

Finally got all my paperwork in place. File & binder ready to be turned in.

Yippy!!!:yeah:

Next step is to stand outside the Salvation Army with a bucket to collect donation for my tuition....hahaha!!! Just kidding....God is an AWESOME Provider.
