Broward College August 2011

Hi guys, is anyone else working towards starting the nursing program at BC in August 2011? I am working on my last pre-reqs this semester (spring 11) and then apply and hopefully get accepted for the fall semester. I just took and passed the hesi exam last night and that is one big load off my back. I also started my hep shots since it takes 3 rounds of shots and a total of 6 months to be fully immunized. I want to have all of my ducks in order to start the program. I am undecided whether to go to south or central campus. Any advice?

Tsg1222, ur rite about that. I hope we will see each other @the orientation. There's is nothing like support and togetherness- it WILL help us move mountains in the program. I am currently taking pharmacology, and my lecturer says "find a study budy/ies and stick together-share information within your group and work hard, and u guys should do well in the program." She sets nln exam questions, nclex...in NY so she is credible. Can't wait to meet every1 @orientation.

@pedrn27.... Am sure we will meet each other very soon. You meet my good friend at the bookstore the other day and she mentioned meeting you to me........hahahaha!!! It's a small world out there.

Your taking pharm now?! I thought we werent allowed to take the math or pharm until the first semester of school? I wish I knew this earlier. Im taking micro starting Monday to get that over with. I would have took pharm last semester if I knew we were allowed!! :(

Hey Everyone!!!

Just want to say congrats to everyone who made it in, and keeping my fingers crossed for everyone that is still waiting to hear back!:D

I made it in for last May's class, but I was one of the students who deferred their seat to the fall. I am super excited to get this started!!

Has everyone taken all their certification credits? I just registered for ceufast.com. I heard that you can get everything done on there online (except obviously CPR) and for cheap! Anyone know of a good place to take CPR?

So little time to get SO much done!!! :nurse: See you all at orientation!!

I will be taking the CPR/BLS from a MDC teacher who teaches the class at his home for $35. He will do classes with groups of three up to 12. Anyone interested in doing the class? I start Micro on Monday at Central so life is going to be crazy. I bought shoes and two sets of scrubs today so I don't have to deal with a crowd at Central later. They have a tiny room with a mirror to try different sizes on. The gal in the bookstore says they only order on shirt per student registered and they run out because none buys just one shirt.

oops the class is $40 not $35, sorry about that! Still a good deal as there aren't any left slot with BC and I think they charge $75 plus you must buy a $10 shield and I think a $19 book at the Broward College Bookstore.

Yes, u can take it b4...I'm taking it @palm beach state college. I asked if it wudve been transferrable and they said yes. I'm pretty sure u can take it b4 @bcc too...along with micro... :sniff: I'm sorry u didn't know cuz it sure does help to do it b4. it is really challenging even doing it alone, so i can only imagine wat it must b like wen u have ur nursing classes as well.

The passing mark @pbsc is 75 and more than 1/2 the class is doing it for the 2nd and 3rd time. I wud try and find out the book they use and buy it, and just start making urself familiar with the disease processes...ex hypertension-just c how it occurs, then move on to the drugs. I'll say get a head start. I can't imagine doing it in only 6wks.

I may b doing it again with u guys..lol, if u do it b4 the program and fail it- the grade doesn't count. It counts as a F if u fail while in the program.

Im taking micro at central on monday too!!! What time are you there? Im doing mon-thur 230-830 (with a 2 hour break bw classes) Not looking forward to that crazy schedule lol.

Im definitely down to do that class... I cant private message on here yet..not enough posts :(

Man...I tried registering in the beginning of summer and it said I wasnt allowed (special deliminator w permission needed or something like that). Im sure its going to be crazy overwhelming especially with having to take the math class too!!!! I started looking up ways to make our schedule and with having to add both pharm and math in..looks like it will be a 5 days a week. Process on Mon & Friday...Clinicals Tuesday and Wed, math or pharm monday night etc. :eek:
