  1. oops the class is $40 not $35, sorry about that! Still a good deal as there aren't any left slot with BC and I think they charge $75 plus you must buy a $10 shield and I think a $19 book at the Broward College Bookstore.
  2. Butterfly quote"-I just registered for ceufast.com. I heard that you can get everything done on there online (except obviously CPR) and for cheap! Anyone know of a good place to take CPR? So little time to get SO much done!!! See you all at orientation!!" I will be taking the CPR/BLS from a MDC teacher who teaches the class at his home for $35. He will do classes with groups of three up to 12. Anyone interested in doing the class? I start Micro on Monday at Central so life is going to be crazy. I bought shoes and two sets of scrubs today so I don't have to deal with a crowd at Central later. They have a tiny room with a mirror to try different sizes on. The gal in the bookstore says they only order on shirt per student registered and they run out because none buys just one shirt.
  3. I called the continuing education department as I have been trying to get into a Basic Life Support class -HSC0405. They called and said there was one slot but by the time I got home the slot was gone. I did find an off campus class for $35 taught by an MDC instructor. It is such a personal blessing to have found a wonderful teacher and a great price.:)
  4. I just called Broward College and they said they should have decisions next week.
  5. The office at Central said they were taking about 300 aplications. No idea about the other campuses. I am so tired of checking my status to read "Application in Review".
  6. For A&P I, II and Lab I , Lab II and Chem I put my ipod either on the teacher's desk or under a rubber band wound around a water bottle to hold it in a standing position. For the Lab Practical Review I just rotated the bottle as needed when the teacher moved about. The A&P teacher was so soft spoken that I often had to sync the recording to the computer so I could boost the playback level high enough to hear clearly. This was with a 3rd gen iPod and a Belkin external microphone module from Amazon. When you plugged the module in, it asked you wanted to record. Because the unit was old I had less than 2 hours of recording before the battery would die. HTH, SoFla
  7. My GPA is 4.0 and I got 93 on the HESI. I live in Broward so I have 17 points. I am eleigle to register for non nursing classes tomorrow. I wish I knew for sure if I am get in or not.
  8. I am over 50 and just applied this week to nursing school. I hold a 4.0 and still have five children at home. I did not start a family until 26 and I still have a middle schooler and a 2 high schoolers. Honestly my going back to school was hard for us as the children were used to having me all the time. When I started school I was home a lot but had to study. I am really going to miss being with my children while in school. I wish I could put this off but I'm already older than everyone else at school. I am taking at least part of the summer off to spend more time with these great guys. My husband is going to have to home school the kids as I will no longer be able to handle that on top of nursing school. School at my age means that I am one of the most self disciplined students. I am prepared, know what I need to know and know what I have not grasped....yet. My assignments exceed what is required and there is no question that I have a firm foundation in my prerequsiites. I occasionally have a deeper understanding of anatomy beyond the teacher because I am a mother, daughter or friend of someone who has had a particular medical condition. Most of my classmates have assumed I am already a nurse rather than a stay at home mom for 28 years. My chemistry teacher keep asking what I was. I kept telling him I was a mom. He wanted to know what industry I had been working in and my occupation. Buy some older editions and study whatever interests you. Chase all the answers to questions you don't know. Educate yourself while you are home with your children. Sign up with www.paperbackswap.com , give away a few old books even in you have to buy them at a garage sale. Get yourself a medical dictionary and look up everything you don't know. Read these boards to find which authors and companies are good sources.
  9. I finished all my pre-reqs this semester with 4.0s all the way through. I thank God and my family for all the help and encouragement. I still have 5 children at home and I had been out of school since 1983. No, that is not a typo. Submitted my application on Monday.
