Hi guys, is anyone else working towards starting the nursing program at BC in August 2011? I am working on my last pre-reqs this semester (spring 11) and then apply and hopefully get accepted for the fall semester. I just took and passed the hesi exam last night and that is one big load off my back. I also started my hep shots since it takes 3 rounds of shots and a total of 6 months to be fully immunized. I want to have all of my ducks in order to start the program. I am undecided whether to go to south or central campus. Any advice?
Yes, u can take it b4...I'm taking it @palm beach state college. I asked if it wudve been transferrable and they said yes. I'm pretty sure u can take it b4 @bcc too...along with micro...I'm sorry u didn't know cuz it sure does help to do it b4. it is really challenging even doing it alone, so i can only imagine wat it must b like wen u have ur nursing classes as well.
The passing mark @pbsc is 75 and more than 1/2 the class is doing it for the 2nd and 3rd time. I wud try and find out the book they use and buy it, and just start making urself familiar with the disease processes...ex hypertension-just c how it occurs, then move on to the drugs. I'll say get a head start. I can't imagine doing it in only 6wks.
I may b doing it again with u guys..lol, if u do it b4 the program and fail it- the grade doesn't count. It counts as a F if u fail while in the program.
Good Luck Butterflies23.
Hi everyone, I'm new on here. Congrats on your acceptances!! :ancong!:I'm applying for the January program! I'm Reallllyyy nervous. My Gpa is a 3.2 in the prereqs. I'm planning on taking the Hesi in early July!
Was the Hesi hard? Is everything I need to know in the studyguide?
Also wondering if they have any policy on withdraws from the prereq courses? I called and they said they don't care. But I'm still worried!
What were your GPA's & Hesi scores for those that got in? Do points really count & how do you calculate those? I dont live in broward and have no HOSA.
Thanks,
Cary:redbeathe
Hey Cary,
The school does not go with your accumulated GPA. They only count the pre-req courses- AP I,II, with labs, Chem with Lab, EnC. Dont worry about withdrawls. I had withdrew from A&P I, then retook it and got an A. Other schools do look at that but your safe with Broward. And definitely do as best you can on your hesi. They will use that as a tie breaker if you have the same amount of points as someone else fighting for the same seat. Also, keep in mind with having the same amount of points as another person, they will also count the classes needed to graduate (micro, etc.). So if you have any of those classes done, they will use those as points in the case of a tie as well. Good luck!!!
Omg 5 days???? Wow!
Yep...
Also with the way the schedules seem to work...looks like its gonna be extremely difficult to work with any kind of constistency since the classes are in in the middle of the day. Process is mon &fri from 9-12 (i think) and then the math or pharm (i forgot which 1) is monday from 5-7. And then obviously our clinical days we are going to be exhausted since its from 630-2 and then we will have to study....Its gonna be quite a lifestyle change trying to get in the groove and find what works for us... Im guessing sleep will be a favorite pastime lol.

Loans it is
I have a question..How do you think it would be doing nursing process I lecture online?? Would u recommend it?
I was told if you decide to take a class online you are electing to do the nursing school online. Similar to how you decide which campus to attend. So it wouldnt be just the Process.

To those who got accepted ..congrats! I got my email a week ago..Im soo excited but very frantically nervous..everyone is saying how hard it is! Int he meantime Ive been taking more classes so I can use them later when I go after my BSN..Ive been done with my pre reqs for a while now but was wishing to get into Nova but i didnt... its so hard!
I was scared cause I was diagoned with Breast Cancer a couple of years ago so even though my GPA was good back then I had to stop get better and continue but my grades suffered.
But I got back in the horse and it went up to 3.1 and I got a 80% in the HESI and still got in to BCC!
Im so wishing we all get thru this awesomely and that we all become great nurses!
Namaste to all!
