Hello!!! Just wondering if anyone else has applied for August 2010 yet? :)
I don't get it.. mine say's "pre-admission" yet i have not received the email! I live 2 hours away currently but i guess i'll make the trip down there tomorrow. Has anyone else had this problem?
you should email them and tell them this. we have already had our orientation on the first and registration starts on the 9th. So I recommend you to go to central immediately when they open
Sunray, do you have any advice for those who will be starting the program. Study habits? Time management? etc..
My main suggestion would be to stay organized. Prioritization and organization are key. The way I manage my time is essentially by staying organized and ahead of the game. For instance, I will read what I need to read in the book for a specific lecture before that lecture. I break everything down by the number of days I have to read it (so if I have 100 pgs to read and 4 days to read it before the next lecture, I read 25 pgs a day for the 4 days), and I write the page numbers that need to be read for that day in a day planner. I also look over the lecture notes before class. Then, when I go to class, I make notes, go home, and I re-read my notes and that's what I use to study with. Usually, I will tweak my study habits a bit once I get a feel for the instructor and what works best for that class, but that is pretty much what I do. I did a lot more for the first two classes, Nursing Process 1 and 2, but that was for North campus, and I'm not sure what I did would help at the other campuses. It was overwhelming at first, but you just have to take things day by day, and exam by exam. Every time I look at the content I am going to cover, I get overwhelmed. I wonder how in the world I am supposed to know all that information, but as I go through the course, I get through the info and it's not so bad. So I've learned not to be overwhelmed by the big picture and take it piece by piece instead.
Another thing, do not let yourself get behind because then it can snowball into you being REALLY behind and not being able to catch up. Try as much as you can to stay ahead of the game. You'll have to find time everyday to sit down, read, and study. If you're a morning person, get up earlier than normal. If you're a night person, then stay up later before bed. If you have kids, you'll have to find ways to work around them. If you work, you'll have to find ways to work around that. The first semester for me was the hardest. It's not that the content got easier, but I guess I've just adjusted and found what works for me, so I am able to get things done and not be so overwhelmed by it all. If you can, I would also suggest having a study group. I have one, and we study on our own and do our own reading, but then before the test, we get together and go over everything together, sometimes adding in our ways for remembering things, and that has seemed to work for us. I think we work really well together.
Good luck, and I hope this helps.
