Broward College August 2010

Published

Hello!!! Just wondering if anyone else has applied for August 2010 yet? :)

I couldn't had to work with my husband all day. I am actually still working. :( And they are closed tomorrow. But I did send them an email. I haven't heard back.

im going to reply because no one has posted anything yet about the orientation we had today and so far there is little information on what has happened so far.

Registration is for nursing classes is july 9. the deadline is july 19. So you can make some explanation about the application submittion which is july 15?

You can hopefully wait for the deferrals or somebody not registering on time or failing in what is required like getting the ceu's

Another reason for not getting in based on points and hesi is that maybe some people took additional classes that are required (to attain AS) that make you get more points like the electives and microbiology.

For the human errors that you have complaints about, the staff have to do it manually. There isnt a program that "automatically" does it. in the orientation she told us there are fees, changing degree seeking : biology, for nursing. Some of this stuff they have to do manually.

There were 2 orientations that I know of. One at 9am and the other in the afternoon. Orientation was 2 hours. You receive your drug sceening papers, schedule layout for all the campuses and online, and list of things that you have to have done before Aug 23.

hope this clears up a bit.

Okay in regards to human error absolutly no excuse for them. There is no way multiple people with great points aren't getting in while people with much less points are. ABSOLUTLY unacceptable. That's not human error that's just stupid. I have my AA degree already and I'm so fed up with these incompetent people. :)

I had 10 points and a 89.5% on my HESI. I have 60 college credits including all pre-reqs and microbiology and lab. I had EVERYTHING and ANYTHING that I needed before I applied. I simply applied after June 1st. Don't know if that made a difference. But honestly I feel that I was more than qualified for a seat in this program. Along with all the others that had more points than me. If it would have been fair and people with higher points only got in, I wouldn't feel as bad, but the fact is I have better grades and my grades didn't matter. That is where it gets a little shady for me. Honestly though, I feel that all happens for a reason, and I had also applied to NOVA where I will be attending. So everything always works out. Congrats to all who made it and good luck in your futures as nurses :)

I know I am upset too...I got all A's and B's not one C. And they have changed their requirements and Criteria like 5 times in the last couple of months. You know the funny thing? When I was there she was telling a girl the deadline had been extended until July 15th! Why are they taking applications? Because they want to continue to take$$$. It's crazy what they are doing and seriously maybe we should consider getting some legal advice. It is truly unfair. I REALLY hard for my grades. I have a 7 and 3 year old kid and home and managed to get those grades. UNFAIR!

You are soooo right!!! The told me it was open ended and that I Can continue to apply until july 12th.. And like you said, they just want to take my $$$. I'm not stupid. I decided not to apply. I beleive I would hav been filling the seat of soMeone who declined

to attend.

However I got into nova and happy for tht

It's a better program and you get a BSN not an AS. Congrats to you! :)

Does anybody know if BCC is going to have moe people picked for another orientation after the July 1st one? I applied the first week of June and yesterday I found out that they lost my application, so I had to apply again.. I am afraid I might have lost my chance to get in for fall 2010 I am very sad!

Does BCC send a rejection letter for fall 2010? I am so confused !

Did you get a rejection letter?

No i didn't, but I went into central campus and the lady explained to me that all the seats had already been filled. The reason our apps are still in review is because they are waiting to see if anyone doesn't accept their seat.

I am soooooo excited I just got into the nursing program:anpom:. After getting rejected six times from BC and rejected from other nursing schools I am FINALLY IN. I am sorry if I am so open with it but I have been there where I hoped and prayed that I will be "in" somewhere and was disappointed to not be in the programs. BUT I am in NOW. I know its going to be a long road ahead of me but through FAITH I am going to get through it. I am so glad that I can NOW tell people that I am in Nursing school instead of saying I am taking this class to get a higher grade or waiting to hear from nursing schools and not getting in which I felt so embarrassed about but I got through it.

Congrats on getting in! I'm excited for you. I remember when I was waiting to get in, and was disappointed to hear that you did not. I'm glad that you didn't give up on your dream.

Sunray, do you have any advice for those who will be starting the program. Study habits? Time management? etc..
