Did anyone already turn in there applications for Fall 2009 @ B.C.? because I am turning mine in next week before the deadline and now I have to wait AGAIN and keep continually looking at my e-mail and the myBC account for the Limited Access Program everyday hopefully I get in THIS TIME being my 3rd time :yeah:

North Campus. but since financial aid only gave me $550 for fall i was stuck to pay out of pocket and now I can't barely afford to get my books on time :(

sorry to hear that stephy. i hope you can work something out to get your books.

this is a copy and paste of what leavingteaching posted about the books we need for first semester @ north:

i only used the following during my first semester:

process i

the modules (a packet in the bookstore) - i answered the objectives to study for the test.

fundamentals book - must have, will use for process i & ii. don't buy the fundamentals study guide. it doesn't have any critical thinking questions, just fill in the blank low level questions.

skills book - must have, will use for process i, ii, gi/gu, ortho/neuro, cardio

jarvis physical assessment pocket companion - will use the entire program, great to learn how to appropriately assess.

cox clinical care plan book - will use to write careplans. used once at end of process one and then, used

in every class throughout program.

process ii

lab kit - overpriced with outdated equipment, but mandatory

davis drug guide - either the book or an electronic program on palm pilot or phone

fluid & electrolyte made easy - a great supplement to understand f & e

plus all of the books from process i

pharm

lilley study guide

packet

you don't need the pharm book.

some students use the fundamental success and/or test success books. however, i didn't use any of those type of supplements.

i'll be at north campus, too.

i carried a lot in my bag. i got one with wheels on it and just left everything in it. so, i was always prepared.

you say you carried a lot in your bag- did you have stuff in there that i didn't mention? did you carry stuff in there you didn't need for class (like fundamentals book, etc)? from what you said i need and don't need from my list, it doesn't seem like too much.

i plan on having stuff in my car so i can study and whatnot when i'm on campus. i'm just trying to limit what i bring to class. so then it seems i need my notebook, pens, and lecture slides on mon and fri, and for clinical/lab days i need my skills book, jarvis book, and whatever supplies i am told to have with me (stethoscope, pen light, etc). right? (i'm sleepy, so i am making sure i am trying to get this, lol).

yes. for lecture, you only need lecture notes, pen, paper. for campus lab, you'll need the skills book, stethoscope, pen light, jarvis book, worksheets (they'll tell you what to bring), etc.

I am really confused I dont kno if anyone else is...I got an email with information about NUR2010 and NUR2010L and it is saying there is a mandatory orientation for NUR2010L on tuesday but my lab is not on a tuesday it is on a wednesday....is there anyone here that goes to central campus who can clear this up

I'm going to North, but its possible they are making everyone come in on one day for an orientation. Don't you also have an orientation on Monday for lecture? Maybe you can ask then while on campus.

yes I do have an orientation for lecture

I will ask the professor on Monday because I would really hate to be at school by 6 30 both days

yeah I hear ya!

The book they told me to get in the bookstore was Pharmacology and the Nursing Process 5th edition by Lilley, Harrington, and Snyder. The guy who helped me in the bookstore said that was what they were using. It came with the book and study guide.

Navy...ur going to South right? Do you know if we need the book on the first day of class? The only professor that has emailed students is the Process I professor giving us reading assignments and homework!!

Have you gotten that email?? Do you understand what we need to do with that assessment worksheet??? I don't understand how to do it and I read Chapter 6 from the Clinical book and I still dont get it.

That email was very vague and ambiguous. It says to complete the head to toe physical assessment sheet. Where is that? I will try to figure it out today and let you know. Less than 24 hours and the madness begins.

The head to toe assessment sheet is an attachment on the email she sent....check the top of the email there should be a link to download the assessment sheet...if you figure out how to fill it out please let me know, i'm stressing!! lol.

It seems like the information we need to fill out the Head to Toe Assessment sheet comes from the Jarvis Physical Examination & Health Assessment book. I am finding it all in there so far.
