This forum is for anyone applying to the nursing program at Brookhaven College for the spring 2016 semester.
I will be applying for the spring semester and would like to meets others who are applying as well.
Thankfully, yes. But we only got a weekend off between Spring and Summer semester...But finished Summer July 30 and don't start back til Aug 30! I haven't known what to do with myself this past week lol
Can you share with us a little about what the schedule is like.....how many days a week for class and clinical? And what about spring break and holidays- do we get off like the college school schedule does?
Thanks in advance!!
Girl,,,,, take a vacation!
My life is nuts! I got engaged June 19, and my fiance just moved up here from San Antonio 2 wks ago. We spent last weekend working on getting his house ready to sell. My "vacation" is being spent trying to do wedding planning while I have time lol! Some of my classmates think I'm crazy...but we graduate beginning of next May and wedding is end of May. It gives me something to look forward to, other than being an RN

Fundamentals will be 8am-5pm 1 day a week...You'll have skills lab 1 day a week...I think it's 8-5 also. But when you check off on a skill, those days you only go in for the check off time-so maybe 45 min. You'll have preclinical before clinical, where you'll also learn and check off on skills. I forget how long that is. Once you've done all those clinical skills, you will go to your clinical hospital that day instead of school. My clinical was at Dallas Med Ctr 1st sem. We went 630am-3pm then had postconference with our instructor and clinical classmates from 3-5. I had to take patho 1st sem too...So I was up at school Mon-Thu You will get Spring Break and holidays off per the college schedule! Hope this helps!

Great info!!! Sounds pretty do-able!!
Ive heard of another RN program that lets students pick their clinical rotation area the last semester- so they can focus on the specialty they are interested in- to your knowledge, does Brookhaven do something like that the last semester??
Thanks again!!
It is a course that we have to take, it is pretty much a self teaching course. You have to get over 90 to be accepted in the program. The meetings for dosage calculation is on the 4th 11th and 18th of September. You have 3 chances to take it. meeting in room X1091 10.30am- 3.30pm. Good luck!
Attempting the dosage exam Friday!!!
a little nervous because some of these questions on the practice exam are tricky, so I'm gonna need to take my time and read through all the extra info to find what the question is asking!!!
Does anyone know if we get our results right after we turn in our scantron?? I'd like to turn in my application after the exam (assuming I pass lol)
