This forum is for anyone applying to the nursing program at Brookhaven College for the spring 2016 semester.

I will be applying for the spring semester and would like to meets others who are applying as well.

Has anyone gone in for the transcript pre-evaluation? Did you make an appointment or did you just go to the nursing office and have them look over your previous coursework. I've only taken classes through DCCCD but I like to cover all my bases. I'm pretty sure I'll stop in there Aug 28th when I go take my first attempt at the dosage calculations exam.

Hello! I'm planning on applying for Spring 2016 admission, as well. Aside from the HESI, I've completed the prereq's and A&PII. I just finished the Dosage Calculations class with questions 99% on the test. I'm taking Micro this fall, along with statistics and film appreciation. I'm trying to get all the BSN core requirements completed as I plan to bridge soon after completing the ADN program.

The dosage calculations test wasn't too hard. If you go over dimensional analysis and understand that, you should do well. Do the practice tests and ask questions on those at the beginning of class. He takes questions first and then once the test starts you have 4 hours to take it. I believe Sept 4 is only a test day, though, and he won't be there for questions.

If you're in Dr. Myers class, the Aug class was rescheduled to Sept 18. He added a test day on Aug 4 as well.

Yeah, I forgot he sent an email while I was on vacation that the Aug 28th class was cancelled and we had Sept 4th, 11th and 18th remaining to take the exam. 99% is awesome, well done! I also just spoke with Barbara Huntsberger to go over all of my classes (pre-evaluation) and she added up my score for me to double check what I had. As long as I pass the dosage calculations exam with 90 or better I'll be applying with a 29.81. I pray that's enough for the Spring semester. I'll be taking my first attempt at the DC exam on Sept. 4th. I've also just about completed all of my pre-req's for the BSN through TTU, I'm finishing it this Fall with my two government courses. How's everyone else coming along?

I'm going off the TTU articulation agreement and I think with statistics & film appreciation this fall, I will finish up the core classes. I may retake some classes I took fresh out of HS in order to improve my overall GPA.

I know I've seen it somewhere but can't remember where. Do you know how to calculate the # of points you get for the HESI? I'm signed up for Micro but it won't count toward my points. I plan to take pathogenic & pharmacology in the program (if I get in) or one over the winter semester if either is offered. I'm hoping if I do well on the HESI, my GPA & ethics/APII points will be enough.

Your HESI score will be calculated for you on your score sheet, right after you finish the exam they will give you the print off. I'm not sure how they calculate the cumulative score though.

For hesi you subtract 75 from your hesi score, that's your points. Have you girls been finding many errors in the dosage calc. Workbook? So frustrating.

I know your friend is starting the program this fall, did she get a schedule yet? Trying to figure out what life will look like if I get accepted, for childcare. I can't figure out how to send a message to a user.

I've found 2 errors in the book so far.

Sorry I didn't realize you meant calculating your HESI score for the application. That's correct, just subtract 75 from your overall HESI score.

No, they haven't received their schedules yet, I'll keep you posted. Right now they are just trying to get all of their books, shoes, rolling backpacks, supplies and everything bought. It's crazy.

Hi! I'm starting my 3rd semester this fall. I do not work, but also have 2 kids. I don't recommend working, but several students do. It's a hard program. We started 1st sem with a class of 40. Going into 3rd sem with 27. If you don't have to work, I suggest you don't. Let me know if you have any other questions...I'd love to help!

I'll be quitting if I get accepted. I have two kids as well. Can you tell me if there is any break whatsoever in the summer?

Thankfully, yes. But we only got a weekend off between Spring and Summer semester...But finished Summer July 30 and don't start back til Aug 30! I haven't known what to do with myself this past week lol
