Hello everyone!! I have been doing my support courses for the last year and a half and I'm going to apply for the nursing program at Brookhaven this month. Though I'm not really stressing about it I am a little worried. This is my 3rd attempt at college and the first 2 times I did horrible!! Since I made the choice to go to nursing school in Summer of 2009, I've brought my GPA up from 1.76 to 3.0. And, all my grades in my support classes have been A's and B's except 1, Nursing Pathophysiology. I made a C in that class and it would have been a B if I had not made one mistake at the end of the course. So, my question is does anyone think that C in that class will hinder me much? If anyone can offer any insight it would be great. Thanks!!
Well guys it is official. I am no longer a nursing student at Brookhaven College. I had my Pinning Ceremony and Graduation last night. WooHoo!! I am so excited. It feels so official. Congrats to all the new nursing students. Always remember that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and you will get there faster than you think.
In the email I got about the new post on this thread, all I could see was the very beginning... "It's official, I'm no longer a nursing student @ Brookhaven..." and I was thinking Oh no, what happened?! I figured I was about to hear some horror story that would almost (but not really) scare me out of going back to school! Haha congratulations on graduating!!!
Does anyone happen to know a nursing student who got in Spring 2011 that still has the book list? Or does anyone have the book list that was handed out in the Spring Nursing Class. I would like to see the book list and ISBN #'s since I am planning on purchasing all of my books separately on-line. Any help would be much appreciated!
I do have to add to my fellow May '11 graduate. I actually bought the electronic and hard copy of the books and used both equally. The electronic version allows for searching, copying and pasting capability for my personal notes. For nursing care plans, this made my time searching shorter. Care plans you will learn more about during success camp and first semester. The other thing I would suggest and may have been covered is a stethoscope. A lot of what you will need is discussed and presented during success camp. Majors bookstore will become the place to visit for study guides, supplies and fun nursing gadgets.
My last piece of advice is YOU CONTROL YOUR LEARNING EXPERIENCE. Learn how to become assertive and don't wait for others to hold your hand to jumpstart your career. Familiarize yourself with the Board of Nursing website and what is expected of you (i.e. eligibility and exam requirements).
Good luck everyone!
