Hello everyone!! I have been doing my support courses for the last year and a half and I'm going to apply for the nursing program at Brookhaven this month. Though I'm not really stressing about it I am a little worried. This is my 3rd attempt at college and the first 2 times I did horrible!! Since I made the choice to go to nursing school in Summer of 2009, I've brought my GPA up from 1.76 to 3.0. And, all my grades in my support classes have been A's and B's except 1, Nursing Pathophysiology. I made a C in that class and it would have been a B if I had not made one mistake at the end of the course. So, my question is does anyone think that C in that class will hinder me much? If anyone can offer any insight it would be great. Thanks!!

I don't really know but, I did take it from ElCentro and I was threatening to get a C because I forgot to take an entire exam. I was shocked when I received an EMAIL from an Advisor, "I think". She wanted to set up a time to discuss my grades and the overall pass rate with a "B" that they prefer for that course. I'm still shocked because I didn't even plan to apply to El Centro.
Anywho , I wonder if Brookhaven is just as critical about that course since they used to partner with ElCentro. If they do look at this course as seriously as ElCentro then you might consider retaking it. It was pretty tough but, very interesting ! Why not call the advising department for Brookhaven, they are really some nice people. Good Luck

Honestly, I don't think a "C" is going to hurt since that's passing. From my understanding, Brookhaven want you to pass all your classes pre-requisites and support courses with a "C" or better. You still get your 2 points for that class, so I wouldn't worry about it. I'm applying for their Spring 2012 admission this fall.

For Brookhaven: Your grades don't really weight much in the grand scheme of things. You pre-reqs - 4 classes can only get you a max of 4 points (4.0) So if you have a 3.0 in your pre-reqs that is good. You get 1-2 points for each support course (some are 1 pt and some are 2 pts). The grades for you support course can be anything above a C, it doesn't really matter. Your main points come from the Hesi A2 exam. The dean said you need about a 92 to be competetive.

Hi Amdroell! I'm applying for the Fall 2011 admission as well! Like everyone else has said, no need to worry about your C in patho, it's still worth the two points and it doesn't count into the GPA they will be using when calculating your number of points. The GPA they are worried about is only the average of the four prerequisites. The HESI is definitely the biggest factor. I just took my HESI yesterday and was hoping to score higher, but I still think my point total is competitve. Good luck to you!

Hi everyone!! I'm also applying for fall 2011. I'm super nervous, it looks like my points will be 32.4. I'm worried it may not be good enough

Hello everyone, my name is Lupe and I have applied for the fall 2011 with 33.26 points, this is my second attempt. I wish everyone the best of luck...
Hi lupe, wish you luck!! I'm so nervous :/
Thank you, Mary0401. I think we stand a good chance with anything above 31 points. Last Spring the lowest end was around 31 points and that was with 40 spots, this time around will be 60 spots and that will definitely help us...

Does anyone know the average point total to get into the program for the Fall?
Hey y'all! According to the timeline on the website we are supposed to be getting an email regarding our status today! I'm pretty sure it's just telling us the number of points they calculated for us so we can dispute any errors next week? Haven't gotten mine yet, but with my experience applying to other programs, I would be surprised if it actually came on time! Waiting anxiously in the meantime...
I am with you Ashlee067, eagerly to confirm my points. Then we do more waiting, to let us know if we are accepted or not for this semester. I hope that the wait will not be as long as they are saying since there not many applications turned in like passed years because the cut-off for submitting an application was 25 points. Good Luck to you!
