Brookhaven Nursing Program

Published

Hello everyone!! I have been doing my support courses for the last year and a half and I'm going to apply for the nursing program at Brookhaven this month. Though I'm not really stressing about it I am a little worried. This is my 3rd attempt at college and the first 2 times I did horrible!! Since I made the choice to go to nursing school in Summer of 2009, I've brought my GPA up from 1.76 to 3.0. And, all my grades in my support classes have been A's and B's except 1, Nursing Pathophysiology. I made a C in that class and it would have been a B if I had not made one mistake at the end of the course. So, my question is does anyone think that C in that class will hinder me much? If anyone can offer any insight it would be great. Thanks!!

Thank you, good luck to you too!

Good luck to y'all! Would y'all mind posting on here when you hear about admission decisions? I'm hoping to apply for Fall 2012 and want to know about how many points I'll need :) Thanks!

I have received my confirmation application points...now more waiting :banghead:

I just got mine too! Thankfully they accepted all my transfer credits so I have 33.38 points. Hopefully it is enough. Four more weeks of waiting now, though after the dispute period why does it take 3 more weeks just to line up all the numbers?!

My friend already received a rejection letter from brookhaven last week with 28 points.

Yikes! Thank you for sharing kickymarcia.

Well maybe the rest of us will know soon. The email from A.C. states acceptance status will be e-mail no later than April 21. Let's cross our fingers and hope it happens soon...:bowingpur

This is my second time applying with 31 points, I am so nervous. When I talked to some of the nursing students from Brookhaven it seemed most of them got in with 33's or higher. Well hopefully they do accept 60 this fall of 2011, during the last 2 info sessions they said they would only be accepting 50, but when I asked the nice lady in charge she said 60 would get in because they can do 100 students per year. Spring of 2011 you needed 31.6 something to get in with 40 students being accepted, my hope is with the 20 additional slots they go to at least 30 points. Good luck everyone, and for those of you with 32 points and higher hehe get sleep now while you can cause I'm pretty sure your getting in. :yeah:

I got my email too! Bring on the waiting game, I hope I make it :redbeathe

So they are accepting 60 for the fall? Not 40?

That is correct kickymarcia, 60 in the fall and 40 in the spring...lucky for us;)

Hello, to all my fellow Brookhaven Nursing student hopefuls, I am applying for fall 2011 admission. To the person who asked about 2012, to be competitive you generally will need a pre-req GPA of 3.0+(2.75 is the min.), a hesi score of at least 90+, and most if not all of your support classes completed(which equals 12 points), this will give you a score of 30+ that will put you in the race. I have been working on all of the above mentioned tips for 1.5 years and applied with a 31.31 score, I hope that squeaks me in. I do believe with 60 slots available the cut-off that was around 31.6 last semester will come down a bit, but not much, I'm guessing that anything over 29.5(jmo) will give us all a shot at getting in. Some factors should help us, like an improving economy, new min. score rules to apply(25), and a class that may be more normal than the ultra competitive class where anything below 31.6 sent you back to the drawing board. Good luck to all.

Wow! I just read that an applicant was rejected with 28 points. Spring 2011 they accepted applications with 27 points and up. I had 30.42 points and obviously did not make it in. Reapplied for the fall with 32.14 and am very nervous this will not be enough. I spoke with Vargha and he believes they will be accepting only 50 students for the fall.

Good luck all and enjoy the next 3 LONG weeks!
