Hello everyone!! I have been doing my support courses for the last year and a half and I'm going to apply for the nursing program at Brookhaven this month. Though I'm not really stressing about it I am a little worried. This is my 3rd attempt at college and the first 2 times I did horrible!! Since I made the choice to go to nursing school in Summer of 2009, I've brought my GPA up from 1.76 to 3.0. And, all my grades in my support classes have been A's and B's except 1, Nursing Pathophysiology. I made a C in that class and it would have been a B if I had not made one mistake at the end of the course. So, my question is does anyone think that C in that class will hinder me much? If anyone can offer any insight it would be great. Thanks!!
Fortylove,
I want to play tennis, I just joined lifetime and they have racketball. Lately I have just been swimmin laps because I am so out of shape. (when I say laps I mean I try to do laps haha) Congrats on your 2 kids and spending time on them :) I :heartbeat kids, we are planning for 3 kiddos and he promised me girls hehe. One of the reasons I am losing weight is so we can be a healthy family.
I wonder what the diffrence is between end of life and the class I am taking. Mine takes the place of the end of life credits, its called death and dying, its psyc 2371 for psycology majors. End of life was full so this was my only option, but I have also learned a lot and really enjoyed it I have a finall in there and Im done.
My friends keep telling me to relax, but I am the type of person that likes to work toward a goal, in fact if I am not I get kinda cranky. I have gone through a lot just to get to this point, and now all I want to do is get ready, study, and review so that I can go through RN school without fear of failing or killing someone, or going back to my old life/crap jobs. Peoples lives will depend on us, I dont want to look at them and not know what I am doing... or even worse do something wrong and hurt them more. I feel like I was given a gift, a chance at being an RN and when I think about it, all I can do is smile.
Hey have any of y'all done Patho at El Centro (HPRS 2201) and transferred it to Brookhaven for a support class? I was told it would transfer, but I'm a little concerned now because the UTA advisor just pointed out to me that they couldn't take it because it's only 2 credit hours instead of 3... I really hope I'm not going to lose those 2 admission points on my application!
I took patho at Elcentro because thats all the offered at the time :) online wintermester crazyness. It transfered just fine but Im not sure about what UTA accepts. My friend at UTA took patho at elcentro too and im pretty sure it transfered because right after she got into the UTA program.
Figured I'd chime in. I also will be attending the program this fall. Alot to get done before then. I appreciate everyone already in the program who have shared their experiences and observations.
Biggest issue for me is gonna be finding scrubs that are tall enough. Might have to get them custom ordered. The joys of being really tall.
Also, I really wish they would get the textbook list out to us before success camp but so far it seems that wont be the case.
Congratulations itsnvrlupus , thanks for joining the forum…Most of us are planning to take the CPR class on May 7, it’s from 8 am to 4 pm, but most likely it won’t last that long…hope you can join us if you haven’t taken it yet. You do have to register for the class and pickup a packet from the continuing education window in bldg S.
I agree with you! I can not wait to have the letters RN by my name!! About having 3 girls...it is possible to help determine the sex...we can talk about it when we meet!!
I think Death & Dying and End of Life Issues are basically the same course, just different names.
Good luck on your final, mine is next week!!
The patho I took at El Centro was a 3 credit class and the one at Brookhaven is a 2 credit. Mine transferred no problem. Is the patho you are taking entirely online? Mine was, tests and all.
Yep it is online! For some reason it's a 2 credit class, which seems surprising to me... surely there is enough material in Patho to cover 3 credit hours! Oh well, as long as it transfers and I'm learning everything I should, that's what counts! I'm definitely going to keep refreshing myself on patho, pharm and maybe even A&P until I start so I'm good and ready... I am really taking my nerdiness to a new level!
Fortylove are you taking CPR with us? I know so far its: Ashlee, Hobbits, Lupe, uh... 2 others on FB said they are coming but I forgot their forum names. Alum already took it, said it didnt last that long.
Ok gotta do some homework, it piles up at the end heh... I can't imagin how hard the end of sem will be once we are in. We can handle it though!
*edit* Can someone give me some height plz... Im 5ft O.o my problem with pants is they drag on the floor. I would like about 4-5 inches taller if anyone has some to spare.

Hobbits,
I had to search way back in my memory bank to remember what a "novel" is. I have not read one in forever but plan to do so this summer. I just finished my last support course today (End Of Life Issues) and take the final for it next week! Wonderful class by the way...very informative and emotional, but I learned so much! I plan on spending the summer getting my life organized like you and your fiance are doing now! I have 2 little girls (6 & 10) and will be spending as much time with them as possible, along with playing as much tennis as I can! Anyone else out there play? It is a great stress reliever!!
I am going to try and get in the CPR class May 7th...can not wait to meet you all!!
