Hi!
I can't seem to locate a thread regarding applicants for Brookhaven's fall 2015 nursing program... so I wanted to start one! If there is another, please redirect me- thanks!
I plan to apply in February for acceptance to Brookhaven's fall 2015 class. I am working on my dosage calculations course by 2/20 (cutting it close!) and that is all I have left! It looks like they changed the point scoring system since just a few months ago- did anyone see that? I am always looking for guidance and support in this process, so, I am hoping this thread can provide that for me and everyone else involved!
I look forward to virtually meeting other BH fall '15 applicants!
I just had my interview today. Congrats to everyone who went today and who's going Friday:) Does anyone know how they assess our interviews? Also, is April 17th the only day we get our acceptance email or do we get them any earlier?
I have not been informed on the grading criteria! And I assume it will probably be on the 17th...I suppose it's possible to hear back earlier though if they get the results altogether quicker than anticipated...??!! Lol
As far as grading criteria I only know that you get a possible 5 points for the essay and 10 for the interview. I also saw her writing down credentials during the interview... As in LVN or MA for those who have them, so it seems like they take that into account. It was so hard not to try to peek!
It was 5 people in the interview at the same time, but it really isn't that intimidating. You have to remember that everyone is in the same boat as you and are all nervous! You are sitting in a line looking at the interviewers and not at each other so it;s kinda like you are in the room alone when it comes to your question! Don't psych yourself out... as everyone else has mentioned, the interviewers are very warm. They smile a lot and aren't scary:) You will be ok!
I'm the same way lol my interview is tomorrow. And I usually get so nervous that my mind goes blankI just hope I'm able to answer their questions!
it really helped me to prepare by jotting down some different answers to questions i thought they may ask (as found on past allnurses brookhaven topics) and then practice my answers out loud. Just 30 minutes of doing that really helped my confidence because I felt prepared! Think about things like, why nursing? why brookhaven nursing? what does nursing mean to you? WHen have you had to overcome a challenge? What qualities do you posses that would make you a good nurse? What are your strengths/weaknesses? ...you can pull from everyday life or work. That's what most of us did. If you are a little bit prepared, your mind won't have to go blank :)
