Brookhaven Nursing Fall 2015

U.S.A. Texas

Hi!

I can't seem to locate a thread regarding applicants for Brookhaven's fall 2015 nursing program... so I wanted to start one! If there is another, please redirect me- thanks!

I plan to apply in February for acceptance to Brookhaven's fall 2015 class. I am working on my dosage calculations course by 2/20 (cutting it close!) and that is all I have left! It looks like they changed the point scoring system since just a few months ago- did anyone see that? I am always looking for guidance and support in this process, so, I am hoping this thread can provide that for me and everyone else involved!

I look forward to virtually meeting other BH fall '15 applicants!

Because you have to complete them before the application date for them to count (thus figuring how many points you get for each one based on your final grade) and I won't be done with them until May:)

Thanks for starting this thread!! I hope the application process is going well for you all. It's so strange how the point system changed for this semester. I asked the office what they thought will

be competitive and they said they have no idea. :/ they said it will probably be lower than previous semesters though because there's just not as many points available. I still need to take the HESI so not quite sure what my score will be yet. Good luck to you all!

Well, that's good news to hear! I was so surprised with the change in the point system but it seemed to work out in my favor (fingers crossed!) Are you studying out of the HESI book? I felt as though a lot of the questions came from there! I studied it front to back. Make sure you are only studying the portions you HAVE to take! I took the practice tests over and over and I think it really helped me. I scored a 95% on my HESI. Did you take the dosage calculations course? Good luck to you too!

Wow there is barely anyone commenting for fall 2015! A 95 on HESI is awesome. I got 87.2 I believe. I have finished everything except for the Dosage Calculations. How is it if you have taken it?

THe new points system gave me a slightly lower score than I had. I believe I have 23.09 but I have to go over it again.. things keep changing with nursing points so much I need to recheck.

Yes the new system dropped my points slightly too! The dosage calc course is a lot of studying- make sure you pay extra attention to conversions and IV calculations. But once you get it, you get it. I passed my exam the first time with a 93% and I think nearly 80% of the class did as well. Do your practice tests from the book and you'll get it!

Do you have any tips for me on how to improve my English section?

I did very well on Math 96% and a&p 96% but my English sections aren't that great! :(

I would just continue to read and re-read the English/comprehension section in the HESI book and take the practice tests over and over. For me, if I don't understand a word or concept, I look it up and then write it down and refer back to that every time I get hung up. I really spend time on understanding 'why' instead of just memorizing. It seems to click easier that way for me.

Hey eelittle! I was just curious which HESI study guide you used? By the way congrats on your 95% that's freakin awesome!!! I have the Evolve Mosby 2nd edition…did you use the 3rd edition to study?

I used Elsevier HESI Admission Assesment Exam Review Edition 3. Barnes & Noble - Books, Textbooks, eBooks, Toys, Games, DVDs and More

Hopefully that link works! A lot of the questions on the actual HESI were very, very similar to what I studied in the practice tests in the book!

Super!! :) Were you at the dosage class the weekend before last? I'm so glad I passed the first time!
