Brookhaven Nursing applicants - Spring 2018

Published

This is a forum for anyone applying to Brookhaven college ADN program for Spring 2018.What tips can you offer? Any challenges? How was the dosage calculation exam? Any tips for the critical thinking exam and the interview? How many points are you applying with?

I was going to take it and then I figure out that there is a staff meeting at BHC and the campus is essentially closed as of 12:30p. I live in BCS so I wasn't about to drive three hours and rush to take it so I will be testing tomorrow as well as getting m y application checked.

I feel ya! I took that CT exam and God was I surprised! That thing was difficult. I got 10.5 points but I'm going to retest again in January when it's offered again for Fall 2018.

Will you still be applying for the spring 2018 semester?

No, unfortunately, I won't have all my classes done. But I wanted to see what was on that CT exam because you can only take it once per application cycle so that's why I took it today. I'm looking forward to you getting in though!!!

I thought the HESI book by Elsevier was pretty consistent with the Exam. The CRAM app was REALLY helpful too. I will say it was WAY easier than I thought it would be. Since I've taken A&P I & II it was kind of just like reviewing some basics. I don't remember a lot of the questions, but know your planes and directions, posterior, anterior, proximal, distal, brain anatomy and which areas affect what, I think I had some questions on the dermis and epidermis. It wasn't as in depth as I expected. Oh, and I had some questions on renal function. Good luck! I've heard if you do the practice exams that's really helpful too.

Doing the CT now is a really smart thing to do! Thanks for the encouragement! í ½í¸€

I know I can take Hesi only once per application period with Brookhaven, but El Centro lets me take it as many time as I want to. So how does that work if I would like to retake for El Centro If I need to but I don't want to be disqualified for Brookhaven.

Does anyone know that if we have all the vaccinations that we need if we still have to get the titers as well?!

Do you need to have the titers done even if you have proof of the immunizations? Thanks!

Thank you

If the immunization "has not expired," like the hep B is good for 20 years once you get the 3 series....(I guess so). so if you have ur physician documentation for it then u r good, otherwise you will need a titer. Hope that was clear

I would recommend you visit the nurse at the student centre for vaccine questions.

Regardless of whether or not you've had the three rounds for Hep b you have to show proof of a positive titer. If you don't have a positive titer for Hep b by the application deadline then you cannot apply.
