Brookhaven Fall 2019

Published

Anyone applying for Fall 2019? I know it seems far away, but the application is due the end of Feb. It is best we begin to prepare now, especially those who need immunizations.

I need:

Critical thinking exam.

Retake Hesi for a higher competitive score.

Dosage calculations workshop.

I'm taking Chem 1405 and Phil 2306 this fall and Pharma in winter.

Another question (gee, can anyone tell what I'm spending my day doing today?): On Brookhaven website, it says nursing applications are due by 3:00 p.m. and for dates, it says February 18-27. I had in my head that the due date was February 18 but does that mean we have until the 27th?

Also, how long does it take to get the HESI results? I'm trying to decide how much time to give myself to study before taking it. Thanks!

Hello everyone! I am also applying this year round for fall 19 BNP. I tried applying last application period but my hep b titer came out negative. Does anyone know what are the hours for the Brookhaven nursing office to get my immunization form signed off?

Thanks!

I just left a voicemail asking what their hours are and if I need to make an appointment for that so I'll post when I get a call back. Where did you go for your TB test? Did you have to go to your doctor's office for it?

Mildred, Brookhaven nurse, called me back a little while ago. You do not need to make an appointment but she said she's the only one there and she has quite a few doctor's appointments coming up and encouraged a phone call within a day or two of when you intend to go. Also, I found out she can do the TB test which is awesome! I love that I don't have to go to the doctor. Her phone number is 972-860-4195. She was very, very nice.

Thanks a lot! I will be calling her tomorrow. I'm trying to go this Friday. I went to the Garland health clinic to get my hep B vaccine. The price is really cheap ($25) and I discussed my TB at. CVS clinic it was not expensive and convenient.

Is anyone on this thread going to the dosage calculation workshop on January 26? I'll be there and would love to meet anyone applying for fall.

Sue

I'll be there. I'll be fresh off of work from my 12 hour night shift so I'll be the dead looking one ?

The application is due the last business day of February.

Crap. I wanted to go there on the 23rd (Today) since I'll already be there signing up for the Hesi.

It's usually the same day. This is when I tested at El Centro. At the most, I believe the person hosting the HESI stated 2-3 days from the date of test.

Could anyone help me with the dosage cal? I took it during Jan of 2018 but it shows on econnect that I completed on Fall of 2017. Since we're applying for Fall of 2019, would I have to retake the test?

The dosage cal score is good for two years. I’m currently in the worshop. I made a 87 my first attempt, hopefully I get a90 this Saturday when I go back!

Edit: the application is due end of feb, which technically wouldn’t be 2 years. Double check with Mark Meyers, the dean of the program. He’s very responsive to emails.

vmrose, I have not spent enough time studying for dosage calculation tomorrow so I'm grateful I'll have one more shot in February! I'm strong in math so I think that helps but there's so much more here than that! Can you tell me is it primarily knowing your conversion factors and being able to do the math -- I don't have these million abbreviations memorized yet (ac, DS, ss, HS, etc.) but know the ones that affect the dosage (qid, tid, qd, etc.). Can you give me any more insight on what I should focus on today to feel more prepared for tomorrow? Thanks!
