Brookhaven Fall 2019

Published

Anyone applying for Fall 2019? I know it seems far away, but the application is due the end of Feb. It is best we begin to prepare now, especially those who need immunizations.

I need:

Critical thinking exam.

Retake Hesi for a higher competitive score.

Dosage calculations workshop.

I'm taking Chem 1405 and Phil 2306 this fall and Pharma in winter.

Does anyone know when classes will begin, if accepted for Fall 2019? The regular Fall semester will begin on August 26. I'm wondering if the nursing program will be different. It seems unusual that they would notify us regarding acceptance over 4 months in advance.

Hey, TTU Spring Break was last week. They emailed me yesterday and called me today to set me up with an advisor to discuss my transcripts. I already have a Bachelors degree and they're just seeing which core classes I am exempt from taking or need due to my first degree.

Yeah, I realized it was last week. I wish every school had their spring break at the same time. This would make it easier! lmao. I got my email this morning about setting up my account so I can do my orientation checklist. Once they look over your transcripts, will they then set you up for your account? I'm excited we'll be doing this together! Tharesa I do have a question tho (if you don't mind me asking)...If you have a bachelors' degree, why not go through some of these accelerated BSN programs? Or is it more of a financial decision?

I'm admitted, I'm just trying to be a head of the game and figuring out what I need to complete my BSN and only thing I'd have to take is Nutrition and Statistics (with the addition of the Brookhaven RN program).

But that is a good question. They tried suggesting the accelerated program at first, I guess they look at all applicants individually and because I'm a Second Degree seeker and I'm trying to go the other route (instead of accelerated like all second degree seekers) they just had a lot of questions.. lol. Going through the Accelerated program requires me to put my House up for rent and move back to El Paso with my parents. I live in Dallas and Brookhaven is a 10-15 min drive from my house. It's just a better transition for me and my current lifestyle. I only want to be part of Fall Cohorts due to me being a teacher and I'm under contract and don't want to leave my job in the middle of the school year.

If I didn't have a house.. i'd be more open to moving from Dallas, move back with my parents in el paso and go to UTEP or Texas Tech or El Paso Community College or even back to San Marcos and go to Texas State University where I got my first degree.

I noticed, A lot nursing programs love applicants who have a first degree. Texas Women's Program I was as well looking into but they got rid of their accelerated program this year.

Oh... and I don't want to move back home with my parents lol........

Are you local?

Affordability was a biggest factor in my choice as well. I've exhausted most of my Direct Loan Allowance from my first Bachelors and I'm trying to avoid taking out Private Loans

That’s the plan Tharesa. I applied on 2/21 for the March deadline to take the classes in the summer. My deadline for Brookhaven would be in September so in order for me to put cenp classes on there, I had to apply by March 1 for Texas Tech. However, you don’t have to take both classes at the same time. You can take one then take the other after you finish the first class. Depending on if I can come up with the $2,000 they need for me to pay for the classes by then will determine if I can take both or only one at a time. I don’t qualify for the JP grant because of my grades.

What is the GPA requirement for the grant?

I believe it is 3.0. I had to retake my sciences so I don't meet this requirement (yet) but I'm going to try and see if I can use the financial aid I would get for my pre-reqs and use it for the CENP classes.

Bummer... I wasn't accepted into the TT dual enrollment program at this time. It looks like you have to have a minimum of 44 credit hours to be considered. At least we will receive our first correspondence from Brookhhaven this Friday!!!

Aww darn! Don't give up dmyre ?! Are you going to go for the fall entrance instead or just wait until after the ADN?

I meant to reply to this when you first posted it smh. Yes, I live in Irving so I'm only about 15 minutes away from Brookhaven and literally a 10 min walk from North Lake so those two locations for sure I would be applying for.

Does anyone know how many points does CENP add to your nursing application? It doesn't guarantee your admission into Nursing.

Has anyone taken online Sciences classes?? How are they compared to brick/mortar classes?

From my understanding once those classes are completed when you apply, you are guaranteed admission into the nursing program. Unless things have changed
