Brookhaven Fall 2010

Published

Hi everyone. I just turned in my application for the THIRD time this morning! I'm really hoping that third time's a charm. Has anyone turned in their application yet?

I don't think anything has changed with the three points. I did ask *** if you get to keep those points forever and she said yes. You only get the award of the points one time but you can use it more than one application period. Does that help?

I just received an email that there are no more three points at Brookhaven for future application periods.

Now I'm worried about my points for spring.

I should have 30.46 without the three additional reserve points.

It could increase by 1 pt if I can get into End of Life this summer.

I have decided to retake my English for an A to boost my gpa .21 pts.

I'm trying to decide if I should also take two classes this summer that I need for the El Centro program as a backup.

Are you sure? I didn't get that email...maybe they want it to be a more even playing field or something?

That really stinks if they do that. If I don't get in for the third time and they don't let me use the three points that doesn't seem fair. I thought the whole idea behind the extra points was to try to get people in that weren't accepted the first time? That is what I was told at least but I guess you never know. The only thing I can say is that try to take as many of the classes that you need as you can. I took End of Life in the summer and didn't take Patho which was offerred. I don't know for sure that I would have been accepted if I would have taken Patho but I can tell you that I applied with 29.58 points and the lowest score that got in was 31.23. So if I would have taken Patho and got the 2 extra points I should have made it in. End of Life wasn't a hard class so I would think you would be able to take another class if your schedule allows it.

I just have End of Life left to take for Brookhaven. I'm not worried about the class, its just hard to get registered for it. I have tried for two semesters now with no luck.

I was emailing her about my gpa calculation and added in the three points question. I clarified her answer to be sure. She said no more three points.

I'm curious if no one has the three additional points to add to their score what the minimum amount will be? Will my 30.46 points be enough?

I was so comfortable with my plan. Now I am scared. I knew I would have enough points with the three additional ones (33.46). I emailed her again about the percentage of applicants who use the three points when applying. I hope she answers.

hollymc1,

I don't understand why they would discontinue the 3 points; have you gotten notification of this, Holly? I for one, havn't. I don't know, that just doesn't seem right! I need those 3 points for spring!! I already had to forfeit a semester last spring due to pneumonia, so I am playing catch up with my pre-reqs and they'll all be completed in May! If I don't get the 3 points, I'll only have 29.23, so I'll have to re-take the Hesi to raise my score!

kickymarcia,

that's still a good score without the 3 points; I'm worried about my 29.23!1

When I talked to ***, she said something about she wished they would go back to face-to-face interviews...have ya'll heard anything about that?

Kicky, the trick to registering for End of Life is you have to register online at 8Am the first day of early registration. That's the only way you will get in. By 8:10-8:15 the class will be full. I had to wake up early and log on at 7:45 to add the class to my plan then wait until 8 to register for it. You have to do it right at 8 because a lot of people will be doing it at the very same time as you and that's how the class gets full so fast. Hope this helps.

Ames,

I tried that last time and got on early and it kicked me out! I'm going to try again to get into that this semester.

I need to chat with someone about how they transfered my undergrad chem grade. At UNT, they are two separate classes with different course numbers. They just transfered my lecture course number. They should average both to obtain the four hour grade/points.

Any ideas on who to contact?
