Brookhaven College Nursing Program Fall 2014

Published

Hi everyone, I haven't seen any thread about BHC Fall '14 so I made one! I am applying this February at Brookhaven community college for Fall 2014. I took Hesi last year for trial and I will be taking the Hesi for real again this February and I have been studying really hard this Winter break! Goodluck everyone, if I do not get accepted I have plan B which to go ahead and try to apply in UTA.

Almost finished in all precourses needed just Micro and death dying this Spring but they are not counted this application so I am hoping to do well in Hesi!

YES. Go on amazon, buy the old editions for about $3. Get the med surg, maternal, psych, and others as well!!!!!

Just FYI I talked to one of the ladies in the nursing office and she said both pants and bottoms for scrubs have to be from brookhaven same brand and all. Im about to go purchase some I just wanted to let others know too.

Does anyone have any suggestions on the nursing shoes? I emailed Nancy about it, and she was very specific on what type of shoe. I mentioned Keds or Grasshoppers, but if they're canvas, it won't work. I'm stuck.

I would suggest a shoe with more support bc we will be on our feet a lot! I was looking at asics...thet have an all white walking shoe - gel foundation 2 I think. They're pricey but should last through the program!

I took a pair of the hunter green Grays Anatomy scrubs from Scrubs and Beyond with me to the bookstore and held up to see if they matched. They looked the exact same color. I can't imagine how they would tell the difference. Dansko makes a solid white nursing shoe that meets the criteria for about $120. They have excellent reviews from nurses.

I love Grey's Anatomy scrubs.. That's all I wear to work! Lol they are so comfy!!! That was my plan too, but now I'm too nervous since she told me to only wear the ones from the school! They were quite pricy at school I though. Oh well.

I think their concern is that we're in uniform all the time. I've been told by someone in the program that they tried enforcing your white coat being your jacket - no sweaters,sweatshirts,etc....but their class didn't start like that so it didn't work. I wouldn't be surprised if they started that with us.

Full disclosure guys, I am a returning student to the Brookhaven program. I had to withdraw from the program for personal reasons, but I'm starting up again with this new class. If you guys have questions, feel free to pick my brain. I'm happy to help in any way I can, and I look forward to kicking butt going forward with all of you.

Regarding the shoes... I'd say if they're primarily white it will be okay. I went overboard and got some totally white shoes, but they weren't as comfortable as I'd prefer, and that comfort is key.

The scrubs must be purchased from the Brookhaven store, unless you've specifically been advised by the faculty otherwise.

Hi everyone, I made this thread and I was not able to get in the program. I will apply for the Spring 2015 and I just want to say good luck to all of you starting the nursing classes soon.

I'm curious if anyone knows - once we get assigned our clinical day is it the same the whole program or can it change each semester? does our hospital assignment change each semester as well?
