Brookhaven College Nursing Program Fall 2014

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi everyone, I haven't seen any thread about BHC Fall '14 so I made one! I am applying this February at Brookhaven community college for Fall 2014. I took Hesi last year for trial and I will be taking the Hesi for real again this February and I have been studying really hard this Winter break! Goodluck everyone, if I do not get accepted I have plan B which to go ahead and try to apply in UTA.

Almost finished in all precourses needed just Micro and death dying this Spring but they are not counted this application so I am hoping to do well in Hesi!

Do we have to buy them from the bookstore or can we just get them from anywhere?

Scrubs not the shoes.

BTW...did everyone receive there email today from Nancy with the info sheet. No real news but hopefully we are getting close ;)

I would think scrub tops need to be through the bookstore bc they have the logo on them, but you can get them embroidered (name and "nursing student") anywhere if you don't want to order them through the bookstore to be embroidered. Scrub tops and white coat need to be embroidered. I went up there today and ordered mine. They said it takes up to 3 weeks so my advice is to get them ASAP:)

A friend of mine in the program got her scrub bottoms somewhere else bc she didn't like the fit of BH's bottoms. They match pretty close. I got mine at BH but they are easy to return.

How much was 1 set of scrubs?

How much was 1 set of scrubs?

$46.80 - $27 for top and $19.80 for bottoms.

When you try them on bend over to make sure your back doesn't show.

Wrap your arms around yourself to make sure everything is comfortable.

Also, I made the mistake of assuming that they were unisex but they're not. The difference is the pockets. Up to you what you want.

White coat is $51

Embroidery is $3.50 each

You need scrubs, white coat, black polo. Black polo is not embroidered (for psych clinical), scrubs and white coat are.

I bought 3 pairs of scrubs bc I was told we wear them every day...in class, lab, and clinical so it just depends on how much laundry you want to do!

I was also told that they're trying to enforce only wearing the white coat when you want a jacket - no sweatshirts, sweaters, etc. They want us all in uniform all the time.

As far as shoes go I heard mostly white.

My friend heard an instructor say "as far as I'm concerned, you don't have any other clothes" lol

Thanks, Katie!

Hello everyone I applied to the el centro program but got denied I'm not sure how many points I had because I never really looked into that I was going to try to apply to spring she told me 28 points is what they needed I hope they lower that too and I need to make an 96 on the test to her in I had 3.6 gpa and all core classes were done but than the classes that you could get a point in I Olympic has four I would have 7 of those classes this time and hopefully if one of my speech transfers than 80but I still need an 96 to get in hope this helps anyone.. I'm taking the hesi agai on Monday and have been studying but am still not that confident anyone have any tips or taken it recently and remembered some stuff

Hey guys. Looks like I'm late to this forum. I'm Brian, and I've been accepted to the BHC Nursing program for this upcoming semester! Looking forward to getting to know all of you.

Question: So if I were to be accepted in the Fall for 2015, when would be the best time to take vacation? I'm looking at going on a 7 day cruise in June 2015. Is there anything I might miss that I need to be around for? Any paperwork due or meetings to attend?

Going by the way they're doing things this summer June shouldn't be a problem! We have paperwork to turn in by July 31st and Success Camp is in August.

Any past graduates or current nursing students recommend any books other than the package we get assigned to buy? For instance, care plan books, Mosby's medical skills/dictionary, drug books, etc...
