Brookhaven College Nursing Fall 2018

Published

Thought I'd start a forum for those who are applying for Brookhaven's ADN program Fall 2018. Has anyone started on these particular things? --->

-prerequisites

-HESI A2

-online nursing information session

-critical thinking exam

-dosage calculations class

I look forward to talking to those who are going to be applying. Hope to hear from you soon!!!

Now the waiting begins! Can't wait to see who got accepted in!

Yes so excited, but this wait is gonna be torture. Hopefully I can keep myself busy and time will fly by. Did you apply this application cycle?

Deadline got extended to April 2. I am starting to worry that the competition will be insane given all those El Centro applicants transferring their applications over to Brookhaven.

Why was it extended and why are people transferring their applications?

Where did you hear this?el centro?QUOTE=Jeraho10;9760041]Deadline got extended to April 2. I am starting to worry that the competition will be insane given all those El Centro applicants transferring their applications over to Brookhaven.

El centro's program has been place on suspension by the BON. I read this back in January and was afraid it would has an effect on Brookhaven. They can't admit new students into their program due to having continued low NCLEX pass rates. Thank God I'm applying for 3 different programs hopefully I will end up where I'm am supposed to in the Fall I had my heart set on Brookhaven but now it's starting to look sad.

I don't know much about the tarrant county college nursing program other than it being so far from my location. Can anyone tell me their ranking process? Is it a point based system like Brookhaven?

Tarrant county is not done by points system. I applied last cycle and was an alternate. They go by your A&P 1 and 2 , and Microbiology grades. And hesi w/ out A&P section. I applied to their program last semester with :

A&P 1:B

A&P 2:A

Microbiology:B

HESI: 85.5 and like I said was selected as an alternate. I do know people with 2 Bs and one A and HESI of 88-90 get called off the alternate list.

I will now be applying with a Hesi 90. So my chances of getting in are better with the 2 Bs and an A. If you have All As and 85 or more on HESI you definitely in and if you have 2 As and 1 B and 85 or more on HESI you pretty much in. It's a two year program so you would go Fall2018, Spring 2019, do 1st semester Mental Health clinicals in Summer 2019, the Fall 2019 and last semester Spring 2020. They aren't as strict with schedule in other words you can switch with others in the program if they are willing to switch. There program seems great beside the fact you graduate a semester later and that's why Brookhaven is my first choice.

It seems like we have been doing the same thing today. I am already applying for Brookhaven, Tarrant and Mountainview but after this new information and application extension date for more students to apply I have been looking into other programs. I think I am going to go ahead and look into Collins Program they have to take the PSB so I didn't apply for their summer start since the first time I took their test I totally bombed it. But I think I am going to go ahead and look into taking again and going to their information session and applying. I can't leave any stone un turned this application cycle. I really need to start next Fall. I feel the Brookhaven program will continue to get more competitive with El Centro and North Lake nursing programs closing and who ever can't apply this cycle will probably be applying next cycle for Spring.

I see. Thank you for the info! I live 15 minutes from Brookhaven and that's why Brookhaven is my # 1 choice. Tarrant is just so far and with traffic everyday just makes me not want to apply.

Yea I understand that is one of the reasons I didn't apply for Collin because their program is way in McKinney. But I'm just going to have to make the sacrifice. I live in Bedford so Tarrant county is an okay distance and so is Brookhaven. Mountainview and Collin are going to be more of a commute for me though.

Oh another thing for Tarrant is you do have to have your Hep A immunization and it had to be started by 03/02 so you would be able to get your second one on 09/02.
