Brookhaven College Nursing Fall 2018

Published

Thought I'd start a forum for those who are applying for Brookhaven's ADN program Fall 2018. Has anyone started on these particular things? --->

-prerequisites

-HESI A2

-online nursing information session

-critical thinking exam

-dosage calculations class

I look forward to talking to those who are going to be applying. Hope to hear from you soon!!!

I have a positive titer for both A and B. For mountain view, fine arts and physical education is needed before applying right? I have neither of those.

I don't think you need either to apply you just need them to graduate. I have a fine arts but not a PE. I'm going to to try and drop off my application and talk to someone after spring break. I have completed my application packet for them.

I should do the same since it would not hurt to do so.

Hey how has everyone been doing since our application cycle on been extended? I am seriously considering redoing my critical thinking exam since I did not redo it for the Fall application cycle to try and get my points up a little bit. I have been watching to see how many people sign up for dosage calculations class and currently 4 people have signed up for the new one that was put in on Friday. I have also notice the roster on the critical thinking exam in (ecampus) has gone up by 5. I know call me a bit extra but I want to try and keep track of about how many extra applicants may potentially be coming in and since you have to do both dosage calculation and critical thinking exam to apply that to me is the best way to try and guess how many could be potentially applying lol. Any ways hope everyone is enjoying their spring break.

IMO at this point, doing absolutely everything for higher points would be a must. But only if you were confident in the critical thinking. I didn't score high even when I though I was being pretty logical in that exam but I'm trying to study HIPAA and the nursing proccesses meanwhile.

Definitely worried about the extended application period...ugh, just hoping that maybe they would open more spots if they are making considerations for other school's students.

OH33 I was actually wondering the same thing about if they were going to maybe increase the amount of student accepted. I guess we won't really know too much until Monday. I know Brookhaven's program requires different classes than El Centro like Chemistry with the A&P I, English 1 and Develop Phys. just to be able to apply. Also they do not take HPRS classes like El Centro , and they will accept but not count points toward the SCIT A&P II class. So with them missing those courses it's like losing 7 points. They also don't require Ethics like Brookhaven. So it may not be as bad as we think. But still I want to be safe and know I did everything I could do to be competitive in the application process.

I feel that your points are pretty competitive but it never hurts to get more if the opportunity presents itself, just depends on your comfort level.

I'm in the same process of applying to different programs as well but Brookhaven is still my first choice. The requirements for all the programs vary so much, I still have to take the TEAS in a few weeks. Have you taken the TEAS?

lol I just want the news already so that I can either celebrate or cry, then move on.

I have never taken TEAS just HESI and PSB for Collin College.

The suspense is real. Not many ppl replying or involved in this dialogue. Is it true that at TCC college the nursing program can be done online except for lab and clinicals

How was the PSB compared to the HESI?? I live near Collin college but my sciences are expired. Brookhaven is the only place I can go without having to retake my sciences. The wait is driving me insane!

Hey guys! This is my first time applying to the BH nursing program and I felt ok with my standings but now that they have extended the deadline I'm a little nervous. Does anyone know if they are also pushing the interviews back? The wait is stressing me!

Yes they do have an hybrid option but I think in first semester you spend like you first 4-5 on campus for all your classes. Once accepted they will asked on your acceptance letter if you would like the hybrid option.
