Brookhaven College Nursing Fall 2018

Published

Thought I'd start a forum for those who are applying for Brookhaven's ADN program Fall 2018. Has anyone started on these particular things? --->

-prerequisites

-HESI A2

-online nursing information session

-critical thinking exam

-dosage calculations class

I look forward to talking to those who are going to be applying. Hope to hear from you soon!!!

How was the PSB compared to the HESI?? I live near Collin college but my sciences are expired. Brookhaven is the only place I can go without having to retake my sciences. The wait is driving me insane!

The PSB is nothing like Hesi it basically like a percentile that you are graded on. It's completely timed. Like each section and it's like 90 questions to complete in 20 minutes for one section. I wasn't ready for it the first time I took it. I'm studying now and thinking about signing up for it and taking it again. Just in case. Collin application period is opened untilthe end of May so I will know my status with Brookhaven before it closes if I don't get in then I'm applying at Collin. The test has an Aptitude section that has vocabulary (basically out of these four word which has a different meaning), Math, and then like a shapes part like the vocabulary part. Then there's Reading Comprehensive again time like 20 minute for 30 questions or so. Then a Natural Science section, Spelling Section, and Vocational section (kinda like a personality section). Yea the wait is driving me crazy to and to think we may be waiting longer.

acraw007 you applied with pretty high points though so I think that you are in a good spot. I was confident about my spot until they reopened the application cycle. Now I feel like am I stressing daily lol. I try to just not over think it but that is hard when this could impact your future. But I pray that we all end up classmates and in about a month this horrible nightmare will be over and we will be entering into a new one lol

Does anyone have any advice for the critical thinking exam?

Don't over think the answer. For me, the first time I finished in 20 or 30 mins and I got 10.5 points but the second time I took the whole time thinking and thinking about my answers and did worse.

Ditto, it's been an emotional rolllercoaster. Depending on what happens with Brookhaven, I may have to take the PBS as well just to have a larger chance of getting into a program.

Seriously hoping we all are able to enter Brookhaven's program this application period though.

Ah this stress is driving me insane. I hope Brookhaven will be admitting more students to make up for the extended deadline. Are we allowed to retake the critical thinking exam and hesi? I am worried my points aren't competitive? I wish more programs had the 16 month ADN ,at least then we wouldn't have to stress so much about getting into Brookhaven.

Hey everyone! I know I haven't posted here in awhile but I have some updates! For those who missed the deadline or were waiting for Spring 2019, Brookhaven has EXTENDED their application deadline for Fall 2018 to April 2! There's more info on the website but if you are one of these people, HURRY AND APPLY! From the forums, I've heard that this is due to El Centro's ADN being on suspension due to low NCLEX scores. Not sure how true this is but it is nice to know that more people may be able to get in @ BH . I unfortunately have decided that I won't be applying to Brookhaven anymore. I will actually start at West Coast University on April 2. However, I will still post here as I'm excited to see who gets accepted in. Hope this info helps!!!

I haven't gotten any emails updating this thread so I just checked and am freaking out. Hearing about the extension and El Centro worries me. How can we know if we have an interview at the end of March if people can still apply until April 2nd. So everything is probably pushed back. í ½í¸¢ More waiting

Yea, that's what I was thinking! I'm going to call on Monday to try to get some information.

Please when you call post any additional information you may have on here.

I really want to know if they are accepting more students because it doesn't seem fair to us that applied in February and now may lose our spot if not accepting more. I hope they are able take more students maybe getting some of their clinical spots.

I wouldn't think that they would accept more people because that would mean they would have to hire more staff. I am pretty sure that they can only have a certain amount of people per clinical group. I might be wrong, but what i have read through other posts it sounds like the clinical groups are limited. I will try to find the post I read and update.
