Bristol Community College Nursing

Published

Hello,

I wanted to know of anyone looking into the Bristol Community College nursing program or who is currently in it or was in it.

I am still taking the competitive pre-req courses right now to be able to apply to the Fall 2011 nursing program for Bristol Community College in Massachusetts. I currently have a 4.0 GPA.

After this semester, I just need to take A&P II (summer class) and Microbiology (Fall class). After that, all of the courses I need for the nursing program are complete except for the actual nursing classes.

If I get accepted into the BCC program for the Fall 2011 class, will I only be able to take 1 nursing class/semester so it's an additional two years from Fall 2011?

Thanks for your input!

No medical experience here. This waiting is killing me slowly.

No medical experience here either. At the information session, the Dean said they don't even look at that. Just GPA, pre-reqs and TEAS score. But, who knows... I'm stressing just waiting. Hopefully we'll all see each other soon! Keep me posted!

I hope the letters come soon. Next week is last full week of Feb.

I hope we ALL GET IN..This waiting is killing me. I agree the dean did say that.

Lilkuz-were you a bcc student as well or a continuing ed/transfer like me? Are all ur preqs completed?

I was continuing ed, but never put in for an actual major. I took classes part time. I finally decided to leave my job last June and go hardcore with the pre-reqs. I just finished them all in December. So, now I'm just a psycho stalking my mailman, LOL!

I'm so nervous because I hear stories about 4.0's getting denial letters? Ugh.

so when you applied you didn't have a major?? I am nervous like you b/c I heard those same stories and I heard stories of students that were part time/continuing ed not getting in. I took classes part-time and finished the preqs and applied. I applied as non-student/continuing ed/ transfer b/c I already have a bachelors degree. I am a nervous wreck. I hear you about stalking the mailman..I so do that..lol

I put the application in back in November. I'm pretty sure that I put that I was a current student. I think my major (for BCC - general courses), I had "Liberal Arts" in their system. However, I don't remember having to write that on the application?

A friend of mine is currently in the program, she started last fall. She had a 3.9 gpa, got in on her first try. I'm not sure of her TEAS score. I just pray that we all get in. This is so nerve-wracking. Have you applied anywhere else? I've also applied to CCRI. If I don't get in either school, I'll look at NETech I guess. However, BCC is definitely my first choice.

I am looking into CCRI now just in case I don't get into BCC. I spoke with an adviser and he told me that I would have to take Micro again b/c it is over 10 years since I took it..:(( and then I would have to take dosage and calculations and intro into health careers. Did you take them yet? If so, how were they?

I took Dosage and Intro last year. They weren't bad. The Dosage class is all math, basically. Conversions, etc. The Intro class is basically a medical terminology and history of nursing class. I think both can only benefit even if you don't go to CCRI. That really stinks about the Micro though. I hated Micro, definitely wouldn't want to repeat it :(

So, I was searching back on this website and most people from last year wrote that they received their letters Feb 21/22. Omg, today is the 18th.... UGH. I've looked into so many different nursing schools. It seems like they all want different things (ways to make $$ I suppose). Makes it hard to apply for other schools :(

exactly!! Every school wants something different. It is extremely difficult b/c BCC is so hard to get into and then you limited yourself. I applied to RIC and BCC. I met with the nursing dept and had a plan of study done. I am waiting to hear from them. Bcc is my first choice. I will attempt to get into CCRI but that is another 3 classes now. It never ends. Please keep me posted when you get ur letter..I am dying!! lol

Good luck to all of you in getting into the program! It's tons of work (I'm in my second semester now) but so worth it.

That's awesome! I have a friend that's in the second semester also (Pedi right now?). Do you mind me asking what your gpa/TEAS scores were to get in? It's killing me to wait!!! Do you remember when you received your acceptance letter?
