Hi all,
I wanted to create this thread for students applying to BCC's program for Fall 2021. How are things going for everyone in the current climate? Please feel free to share your thoughts, experiences, etc. Former/current students, do you have any insight to share?
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Hi! Hi hope all is well I remember when I was doing the LpN program at DIMAN it was extremely hard to work! A lot of people who work more than 20 hours failed out the program. Granted I graduated and now back to finish up through this RN program I really wouldn’t advise it! It’s a very intense program based on experienced.

I work 28hrs/week and would recommend sticking to the 20 or less suggested. Personally I am ehealth and chose it specifically to have a flexible schedule but with COVID everyone kinda became ehealth this year.
My biggest suggestion about working while in school is to talk to your boss about it now. Find out company policy about working around school, talk to coworkers about willingness to switch shifts, etc.
You can shoot me a message on here if you have more questions! Congrats on getting in the program!
Thank you! ?
I really appreciate the feedback. I will be ehealth and I've just been trying to figure out what things might look like come Fall. I currently work full time and I know for sure that will change; I have some work to do on my end.
So, in the beginning I worked 20 hours, now I got a job at hospital and in per diem so I kind of choose my hours based off of exams .. so I work only 1 day if it’s prepare for exam week and I’ll work 2-3 other weeks. It depends. Per diem is great for that. Definitely talk to your job about it.

Hi; I appreciate getting your perspective on things! Congratulations on starting the program ?
I know this program is going to be a big commitment and finding a good balance between things isn't going to be easy. If I was fortunate to not have to work that would help things but the lack of knowing right now is just driving me a little crazy schedule-wise haha
Unfortunately you do need all the books.
Uniforms got back-ordered last year so I highly suggest going soon to try them on and get sizes. Also make sure you get white socks and white all leather shoes for clinical.
Use Quizlet and any resources provided to you. A lot of people found Davis Edge/Advantage to be discouraging last year so think of it as a tool and not a measurement of how well you are doing. With Quizlet try to find quizzes people made with questions from the same book with rationales. I found these the most helpful resource 2nd semester, more than the resources I paid for.
Overall, YOU know how you learn best. If you find taking very detailed notes and making outlines works for you, do that. If you want to read the book, do it. If you want to just use what is in teacher PowerPoints, do that (I don't really recommend it but I know students who swear it saved their sanity)
If they offer tutoring or review sessions go to them. If you can't go try to find somebody who went and can tell you they went over X and Y.
If I think of anything else I will get back to you!
Hi guys I just applied for the Lpn to RN bridge program. I read through your thread & could relate a thousand percent on the waiting game. Admissions keeps telling me within this week but everyday I see no changes! My question is on the day your degree works changed did it change mid day or was it changed first thing in the morning. Not sure if I’m wasting my time checking a million times during the day but my anxiety is driving me nuts LOL
