Bridging program in vICTORIA? anyone? did, doing? plans?

Published

hi there..

is anyone of you currently on bridging program in victoria, australia? or done the prgram..how was it? im planning to enroll as well but still figuring things out..hoping for a kind soul to share infos..on victoria..

im actually thinking of deakin.. or any other schools near glen iris. anyone one familiar? plssss

thanks so much.....

I would think Deakins program would hold more weight to prospective employers than others, as I had never heard of these programs for overseas nurses before.

Going to a recognised, especially for the nursing programs university would hold much weight, if you went for a job against someone that went to some private organisation that does not provide any undergrad programs to Australian nurses, just bridging programs to nurses from overseas, you would get the job.

I honestly don't know what the NBV was thinking, as Victoria is the only state that has this system, makes you wonder?..

.I know that some were given short times (1year) before they need to be credentialled again, will be interesting when AHPRA really takes hold of credentailing.

They may be ok programs, but for a profession that holds itself to be high in evidence practise and high education standards to top university standards against other health professions, such as, Doctors, Occupation therapists, Physiotherapist,...just imagine if they had some private organisation providing them with a bridging course in 8-10 weeks with a private organisation for 10,000, that does not provide undergrad study or postgrad and therefore no research for their profession.

It just downs our nursing profession to me and makes it some money making golden ticket system. '" Bridging courses, should be done through a university for RN's. TAFE or the already providing educuation for Australia nurses for EN's . No favouritism towards, Phillipinos, Indians etc etc.

The only other overseas briding program is in NSW is run by the college of nursing, so this institution would be striving to keep standards as well and the NT one is also government run.

I do not know who keeps an eye on the standard that these other programs, between credentialling, provide, but a recognised university nursing provider must at all times keep up standards. Of course if programs are attached to a Tafe this too would get my tick.

Deakin is a great university and does provide for many overseas students, including nurses. I would imagine their program would be vigorous, but fair and would provide support in areas that are needed, they would not be out to fail anyone, but would not let pass anyone that was not up to standard, but would make sure you got there, so to speak. Thats my 2 cents worth.

....and I find it totally uneithical for education providers to pretend to be Phillipino nurses on a nurses forum......another 2 cents worth,

other than deakin and la trobe, what university also doesn't require a nursing experience? Is it mandatory in AAON, WLI and University of ballarat health services? (the 3 schools i'm aiming on)

I'm really hoping to be accepted in a university or uni-affiliated bp program so at least I'm sure that i'll be getting a quality education and training. (god knows my sponsor would be paying a lot for it) Unfortunately i don't have any working experience yet (coz i tried to save some money - which was somehow a wrong move :uhoh3:) but i already received an eligibility letter from nbv.

I tried emailing some of the bp providers but unfortunately they haven't replied yet. any suggestions will be deeply appreciated. :)

@ i.kristianmark thanks for the info.

@kuri_288 that's scary. i also have the same problem here. i hope our eligibility letters would not be affected

yea i know! im scared to inquire through AHPRA. not unless they ask me to, i dont think I will do anything about it until I get my letter of offer

You're most welcome.

Anyway, yes, I'm considering both but since Mercy Health does not accept those without 12-18 months experience, I might as well go with ACFE. I'm still processing my papers though, and I'll let my mum lodge it in their Melbourne office.

I'm sorry, I haven't been to their office in Ortigas cos I'm from Cebu City. :)

Have you processed your application yet?

You're from Cebu? Im from Cebu too. Did you pass your requirements to ACFE already? I havent yet but Im about to. They said you get a better chance to get in if you have experience.

jhey ey RN, ianina, kuri 228 and others who's interested with ACFE's IRON program! :):):)

Have you contacted them already? I was trying to call their number in Ortigas for a couple of times but it was out of reach. Can you give me some information about the program? How much will it cost? I'm planning to go to their office this week... but I really wanted to have at least a couple of ideas about it.:confused::confused:

Hope you guys can give me some advice. :redbeathe

Hey I actually just submitted my application last night and they called me this morning and scheduled an interview with me for this afternoon. If you email them, [email protected], they respond almost immediately.

good luck!

I think it will cost 10,000.00 why dont you visit their website to gain more info? ACFE

Actually, I am processing my requirements already but don't have concrete idea in mind. Ahehehe :)

But this ACFE is first on my list! They are providing good assistance. Goodluck with our application!

did you go through their interview already? how was it? help!

Was done with my interview and now I have the letter of offer from ACFE.

To anyone who got their 456 visas. can I still make it in time for the sept 13 intake? its less than a month!

Specializes in Oncology, Medical.

that was fast, kuri. all of your processing took only 2 days to enroll with them. maybe not many are applying to them. You still have plenty of time for the 456. good luck!
