Bridging Program in Australia

World Registration

Published

Hi. I am new here. I don't know exactly where to go. I am a registered nurse here in the Philippines and I am interested in studying in Australia for a bridging course that will help me become a registered nurse there. I need some help on looking for a good school that offers a bridging course.

My aunt told me that a friend of her friend just went to AU to take up a test and in 6 months she's there for a bridging program. and I have this friend who has a friend who became a registered nurse in AU in 6 months time too. This agency is offering me to study for a certificate III aged care with occupational English test for 46 weeks in Einstein College but it costs too much. So now, I am trying to look for a school wherein I can apply by myself and hopefully get in. I am hoping I could leave for AU this June 2011. I am a bit lost on what to do. Can you help me, please? Any suggestions? ? Please help me. Thank you very much. :clown:

(Sydney area would be better since my parents are more familiar and in favor of that place... though other cities/areas will be great too)

thanks a lot for the useful information

hi your experience is inspirational. my wife had resigned from work as a nurse in the Philippines last May 2013. She has 3 years experience there and now she is with me here in Abu Dhabi and looking for a hospital job. Is it true that APHRA will not accept applicants with a 1 year or more gap in their nursing experience? My wife alsowants to undergo a bridging course. We have not received any calls yet from the hospitals here but

many home care nursing institutions want to hire her. If she will accept the job as a home care nurse here

will it be accepted by APHRA as nursing experience or it should be continuous hospital work? Can you give us some advice so we will know what to do next. Thanks and good day.

as to what i have heard, as long as a nurse still practices his/her profession as an RN, ahpra considers.be it a company nurse, clinical instructor or even somemore working as an RN in a home care. and regarding the work gap, i was told that as long as the work experience is no longer than 4 or 5 years, you can still try to apply, anyway its just an assessment first. :)

Hi,

Can you kindly give us an idea where you will be working soon, if it's not too much? Thanks in advance. All the best!

a public hospital in ACT :)

Whats the hold up on the visa grant since october? Usually these visa's take 2-3 weeks.

Has immigration stepped in?

the nomination took quite sometime because its all depend on the hospital employer on how fast they could process the application. and as to my case, i have formally lodged my application last 3rd week of november. october period was my employer's part.

How long did you have to wait for the TRN? How long were you able to finish meeting all the requirements and lodge your visa online?

I'm still waiting for the TRN myself, it does take awhile if you will be working for a public hospital. Has your hospital told you anything about the waiting period? What's your plan at the moment then?

Thanks.

a friend told me that the waiting period for the TRN (nomination process) will only take a week, and so i've waited.but then a week have past and i receive nothing yet, so i email the head of the HR coz the one whose assigned to lodged my nomi wasnt even replying to my message. minutes after i emailed her, i then received immediately an email from the one who's incharge of me with the TRN already and the date was the same date i got the email. so therefore, applying a nomination will only take no longer than 24 hours, an hour probably is the longest because its only an automated reply from the immigration once the employer have lodged it. so the key is, follow it up with your hr. they knew that it will only take minutes,so they can just delay it anytime they're free. :)

That quick? I doubt it. Yes, I'll be working in a public hospital in Sydney. I did ask them about the status of the nomination right after a week from turning it in to HR but they told me that they still don't have the TRN.

Are you in PI? Any idea how long this would take you to wait again for the grant?

i do not have any idea. at first i believed what my friend told me she got her visa in a span of 5 days. but then i have lodged since 3rd week of November and yet the status is still further processed. the medical exams here in Philippines is very very slow unlike in Sg it's only 2 days and medicals are finalized. so i thinks that's the reason why it's still pending.

hi gems and PogzRN, if you dont mind, how many years of experience do you have in the phil? Im very worried here, im about to take the mar intake @ UNISA and it seems that theres no turning back. Im an ER nurse for 3 years already and ive heard that sponsorships are really rare these days. how did you get offers? what websites did you look for jobs? and what VISA will you be provided by the employers? is it 457? TY!

With all due respect, I don't think you have to concern yourself with this yet. You shouldn't be wasting time worrying about sponsorships at the moment and focus on your programme instead.

There are many factors that play when it comes to landing a job and getting sponsored-having a recent hospital experience is just one of them. And not everyone shares the same experience in how they got the offers,

I would suggest you learn everything that you can during your placements. Once you get registered then you could ask others on new insights about getting a job;times and rules are changing every time so I can't assure you of what's effective or not.
