Bridging Program in Australia

World Registration

Published

Hi. I am new here. I don't know exactly where to go. I am a registered nurse here in the Philippines and I am interested in studying in Australia for a bridging course that will help me become a registered nurse there. I need some help on looking for a good school that offers a bridging course.

My aunt told me that a friend of her friend just went to AU to take up a test and in 6 months she's there for a bridging program. and I have this friend who has a friend who became a registered nurse in AU in 6 months time too. This agency is offering me to study for a certificate III aged care with occupational English test for 46 weeks in Einstein College but it costs too much. So now, I am trying to look for a school wherein I can apply by myself and hopefully get in. I am hoping I could leave for AU this June 2011. I am a bit lost on what to do. Can you help me, please? Any suggestions? ? Please help me. Thank you very much. :clown:

(Sydney area would be better since my parents are more familiar and in favor of that place... though other cities/areas will be great too)

Hello! How long did you wait before they responded in your application?

hello guys.. id like to share my timeline for you all to be encouraged. it wasnt easy for me and it took me months and months or even a year of waiting.but indeed patience is a virtue and prayers can move mountains :)

sept 2011 - ahpra application started october

2012 - finally got my eligibilty. why took 13 months?? its because i had difficulty asking for cert of employment from my employer. i dont know why my nurse manager wont give approval to the hr to release me my COE until such time she was on her retirement period and finally got my COE from the new nurse manager. that's how tough my ahpra application was.

oct 2012 - the following day after receving my LoE, i applied to ihna perth and everything ran smoothly.

march 2013 - 456 visa lodgement

may 9 - visa granted

may 31 - commencement of my BP as i chose this month to start.

aug 9 - finished my course (job hunting started but no good news received)

aug 20 - got my registration (job hunting continues)

aug 24 - left au for exit but planned to go back by oct.

oct 3 - had my first telephone interview and praise God, after a week, i got the positive result of job offer.

currently- waiting for my visa grant.

God has always answers to our prayers. YES, NO and WAIT. i always pray to God from the very start of my application that if He grants me my heart's desire, He will let me have my feet step forward one at a time. i always told myself that ive reached this far, so why surrender and lose hope. you will always have your reward if you had hardships in life. He may not grant our request immediately by answering with YES, but definitely there's a WAIT at end of the tunnel because HE allows us to move forward in every step that we do and reach this stage. i hope somehow, i inspired you with my walk to this journey. it doesnt end here, its just the beginning.

God bless us all. dream big! soar high! :)

hi your experience is inspirational. my wife had resigned from work as a nurse in the Philippines last May 2013. She has 3 years experience there and now she is with me here in Abu Dhabi and looking for a hospital job. Is it true that APHRA will not accept applicants with a 1 year or more gap in their nursing experience? My wife alsowants to undergo a bridging course. We have not received any calls yet from the hospitals here but

many home care nursing institutions want to hire her. If she will accept the job as a home care nurse here

will it be accepted by APHRA as nursing experience or it should be continuous hospital work? Can you give us some advice so we will know what to do next. Thanks and good day.

Hi,

Can you kindly give us an idea where you will be working soon, if it's not too much? Thanks in advance. All the best!

Whats the hold up on the visa grant since october? Usually these visa's take 2-3 weeks.

Has immigration stepped in?

Usually in the past AHPRA has excepted any degree from any country with no trouble. The only thing they are consistant with is, that the nurse is doing 20 hours of continuous professional develpment a year. CPD, does not matter what type of nursing work the applicant has been doing, telephone triage, selling products whatever, they except it. Gaps have not been a problem as long as she has been doing the 20 hrs CPD. It has in the past seem that, no one was refused possibility to register in Australia.
